Remember to measure the distance with measuring tape if you use Audiotec Fischer standard profile. It does make a big difference in imaging. Also, you can tweak the bass boosted 3-6 db by taste and shelf filter at 5k and above by -3db. Hope you are satisfy with simple amp swap.

Only for the driver. For every other seat position it's worse. That's OK if you seldom have passengers, or if said passenger is female, as females in general really don't care how it sounds. That's not a sexist remark, it's a well documented fact. If it were not there would be no such thing as WAF with respect to audio.

...I need to recruit some more females to confirm on this sound quality issue😉
Correct re:time alignment- one tweaks system to optimize sound at single 'focal point'. |

Women for the most part have the Fernando attitude towards audio: "I don't care if it sounds good, so long as it looks good', though many won't even accept good looking audio gear, preferring invisible. They're not great fans of lots of bass either. Deep in their genetic memory the rumble of low bass means approaching danger, in the form of anything from lightning to a woolly mammoth to an earthquake. Men have the same genetic memory, but to them an approaching herd of woolly mammoths or giant bison didn't mean danger, it meant dinner.

Physical Distance from each set of speakers to your listening position. Plug that info into the DSP's programming software and the software will translate the relative physical dimensions to the appropriate time delay- so that sound from the various speakers reaches your ears at same point in time.
This is part of creating an effective 'sound stage' - you basically are creating a situation where your ears perceive the sound coming from on top of car's dashboard, like musicians are up front performing as they do at a concert. This is a good configuration if you as driver are the only person in the car most of the time. If you want rear seat passengers to have decent sound you'll have to alter your setup to accommodate that situation. |

I normally prefer driver seat. Wife and kids wouldn't care much. Well, kids like heavy bass but they don't know what is good imaging. Measure the tweeter to between your two ears.

a. Stick to the OEM woofers b. Go for the Focal ifbmw-subv2 c. Pick the Earthquake Sound SWS 8Xi (2ohm) d. Get the Earthquake Sound SWS 8X (4ohm) - cheaper What would you do, how to marry this 2x160w (for the woofers) amp? |

So you think that the improvement offered by the replacement under seat woofers is negligible, really helpful, this avoid throwing away money. And what would be a decent setup of a trunk woofer, something that can be installed in a corner with an amp that is plug and play? I don't like wireing and I just hate to pay for this kind of work. |

I know that there are custom made subs that fit behind the left wheel well, you should be able to search them out. As for plug and play that I can't say.

I'm getting the Bimmertech Alpha One underseat sub to replace in my F10 L7 Top Hifi sub. I'll let you know if that make a difference. |

Gents,
I have the G30 530e base system, need to upgrade ideally without spending too much. I fear putting an AMP will require a lot of wiring which will mean a lot of time taking off the trims to get to the trunking. Is there an easier way of upgrading? |

Since the amp is the weakest link of the system it's the first thing that needs replacing. With the base system, assuming it's the same as that in the F30, you actually have an advantage, because you have no separate amp. That means you can use a much less expensive amp than those required with the higher end systems. Check this out:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1475424 As for the need for wiring changes that's non-negotiable. |

Thank you for the reply. What AMP would you recommend in terms of a mid-range with DSP and one that is going to be the best option if i decide to upgrade the system further at a later point.

Not being in the UK I don't know what's available to you. In the US I'd be looking at this for a DSP: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton...audio--230-500
Perhaps this for an amp: https://www.parts-express.com/re-aud...fier--268-8207 |

Thanks, but I'm no audiophile, I'm an acoustical engineer. The two terms are pretty much mutually exclusive. This is why:
