Judging by how "rough" my #4 was, seems like it was drilled after the fact.

The answer to your second question is how comfortable you are with having 6 holes securing your lip, instead of 8. I prefer better security vs the difficulty in drilling an extra pair of holes.

The bumper is just plastic, as you probably have noticed by now. A simple hand drill goes through it like butter. But that's just me. You might have an aversion to drilling holes in your bumper, which is understandable. As long as you are Ok with less rivets securing your bumper

A lot of us who rather not pay the exhorbitant price that an OEM m-sport lip commands have had good results with Selma on Ebay. The fitment is not perfect, but usually much better than the stuff that comes from China.

Here's a thread that talks about some nit fitment issues with the Selma lip. You'll have to decide whether a lip that is 1/3 the price of an OEM one is something that you can live with ...

For $129, I can live with a little imperfection in fitment. Take 2 steps back and everything looks fine. Same for ebay rear diffuser.

Thanks for this great guide, will really help when I get my lip soon!

Does anyone know if there is a similar guide for fitting the M Performance side skirts?

So I've tried several lips and to my frustrations trashed all of the replicas I've bought. They all fit like crap. I'm gonna pull the trigger and get the genuine bmw lip it bugs me when things don't fit flush. My opinion if you want a perfect fitting lip with no issues spend the extra and get genuine bmw m lip.

The bottom lip for the F32 coupe is different from the F30.
Just got the new lip but it came with nothing since I was told that it reuses all the screws from the original bumper. Looking under the car and I can see the mounting points on the lip uses the screws and not expanding rivets.

Anyone got any tips of the lip install for the F32?

Slightly reviving this thread...thanks OP for the DIY. Your directions were spot on! I was able to successfully install my M Performance replica lip this past Friday.
As with most aftermarket vendors, fitment was roughly a 90-95% match. It's only when you finely scope the part do you notice how it's not a perfect fitment. Irregardless, I am happy with the outcome and more pleased knowing that it was a 1/3 the cost of a genuine M Performance part.

Do you guys think a lip for a 435i will fit on a 2017 440i?

Picked up my M replica lip today from Expert Tuning on Ebay (https://goo.gl/Ndyk9v) for $129. Will be installing this weekend using this DYI. Will take before and after pics and report back!

Install went off without a hitch. Took me about 45 mins start to finish. What a nice improvement to the aggressive look of the 335i with M-Sport bumper. Barely clears the driveway.

Car looks bad ass. Was wondering what you thought of the Xpert Tuning lip, does it have the same fitment issues as some of the guys have had with the Selma splitter? (gap between splitter and lower lip of bumper). Also, how is the quality? Is it fairly thick and sturdy or a wobbly noodle?

Thanks

Do you all have scraps all over the bottom?

I am about to order and was thinking about painting the lower blade gloss black along with the side skirts and rear diffuser, but concerned if so low will scrap and then best is stock grey plastic ?!?!
I am finding that mind scraps at the bottom every now and then but that's probably due to the area I am in... Too many steep driveways at my kids schools.

Measured the distance between the lip and ground vs a mates M4 and it's about 5cm diff

Thanks man! I'd say fitment is 90% perfect. The symmetry is slightly off from one corner of the lip to the other but barely noticeable. I'll snap some pics of what I'm talking about and post them up. The piece itself is very sturdy and I was impressed with the quality for under $150. Honestly, knowing what I know now, I'm glad I didn't spend mega bucks on an OEM lip. I scrape EVERYWHERE!!! There are so my steep banked driveways, parking lot entrances, and transitions here in LA. Fortunately, all scraping has been to the underside but I'm probably going to have to replace it every couple years or so.

Thanks for the feedback. I am just hoping for close enough fitment since this is a wear item and I dont want to spend big bucks on something that will need to be replaced every so often. BUT! I dont want it to look like crap either Appreciate the help.
