2 6wa's both with DOWT EPROMs HELP!!

I have read countless posts about this retrofit and still need answers please. Both EPROMs are DOWT but I was able to clear miles to zero but when trying to blank vin I'm having issues. I heard ppl having issues resetting miles but not vin. One eeprom has one long vin and two short, the other has 3 short. The one with 3 short every time I blank vin it writes ok but when I read it back one vin comes back I don't get it. The other with the long vin it doesn't let me change one value. I am using r270 with test clip, I rather not desolder EPROMs as I'm able to blank mileage but is that my only option? Or do I need to order virgin EPROMs with same serial? Has anyone else have this problem where it's says:
Verify error address: 0x007 (R: 0xFF)!=(V: 0x38)
I know what it means but why wount it let me change 38 to FF?
Any help would b appreciated. Gonna try and install the one with 3 short vins and hoping after I flash or code a miracle happens. Would really appreciate any help.

All good questions - when I did both my gage retrofits I used clusters with virgin eeprom and no problems whatsoever

One cluster was new, the other I had someone solder in new eeprom and code for my vin/mileage

Thank u. I think that’s what I’m gonna have to do. It’s weird, when I read the eeprom the r270 software wants to save it as the last 5 of the donor vin so it must b write protected thus why it vin keeps reappearing as the donors. When ordering new eeprom I have to make sure it’s the same serial?

I put the cluster back in my car, had the red dot then removed it tried again with the r270 n when I put the cluster back In and VO coded it n it worked fine. Mostly trial n error
