From staggered to squared

Hello all, new to this forum,
I have a noob question
i wish to go from staggered 19" rims on 328i xdrive to 18" squared wheels,
what are my options
right now i am at F: 225/40 R19, R: 255/35 R19
Can i do squared with 245/40 R18 or 235/45 R18 or 225/45 R18
which one is better and what brand of tires do you guys recommend i should go with
Aim is to have a smoother ride,
another question would be should i go for run flat tires or no?
if it has been asked before, i apologize in advance for asking it again

If you are currently using run flats, ditch them for no run flat tires. Your ride quality will improve dramatically. I have the same set up

i agree...get rid of the run flats.

if you are going to be buying 18" wheels...i would go with a 245 wide tire with a taller sidewall. The wheels should be minimum 8" wide to accomodate a 245 wide tire.

Both michelin and continental make tires that are quiet but they ain't cheap.

can i put 245 in front, right now it has 225

i already have a 18 inch rims with 245 on them, which i need to replace,

i went to the bmw dealership, he said i cant put 245 in the front , have to go for 225/45 or 225/40,

i am considering non run flats, but i have to go for a road trip so i am contemplating should i get run flats coz i dont wanna get stuck on the highway with blown tire with no spare in the back

245 40 18 fit easily, stay away from run flats. Run flats are expensive garbage tire that only allow to run a certain amount of kilometers after you flatted, everything else they do poorly including dampening. If you really want peace of mind buy a spare, but I personally would buy either a CAA Membership or plugs/bottle of flat repair goo and an air compressor. One question for you, when's the last time you had a flat?

Its not about when i had a flat, i would be travelling down south and the roads there are not as great as here.
i called up BMW again today they said, 245 in the front is not recommended due to some issue with transfer case, so i am gonna order 225 45 r18 squared,
i was looking at bridgestone driveguard reviews they seem pretty decent,
bmw recommended pirellis but costco guy said go for bridgestone if i have to go for run flats,
and Michelin crossclimate 2 for the non runflats

i get it and it's your call.

if you run a square setup, as long as all the tires are the same, there won't be any issue with your xdrive. ask me how i know. i run a 275 square setup on this car so i doubt running a 245 square setup will pose any issue.
