Disconnecting battery

Can anybody help me with the easiest way to disconnect the battery before install?

From what i've read online disconnecting the negative terminal should do it?

Anything simpler?

No, that is the simplest way, and quite easy.

1) Can someone confirm if resetting any of the service indicator lights will work with the Andream connected. I'm aware coding (ie Bimmercode) won't work.
2) Can you still hear the OEM Radio (XM, FM, AM, etc.) or Multimedia while using AA or screen mirrorring?
Both Bimmercode and clearing the service indicator work for me with the mmi installed.

Just got the box installed, and everything just.. works.. so nice! Anyway, the only gripes I have now is the DPI thing as lots of people have mentioned.

Also, how do you get screen mirroring working? What icon should I choose in the main menu? (white icons on black background)

How do you clear the service indicator? Using your phone, and if so, what app? Or using a PC?

The time I cleared it with the mmi installed I used this method:

I also have an iCarsoft sban3 tool that I use.

Oh, I thought you meant fault codes

Do you know if it is still possible for an authorized mechanic to write in the digital servicebook in the car, with the MMI installed?

Looking at the manual for the Indiwork box, it only shows screen mirroring working with a cable. Is that the same case for the Andream box?

The units are identical.
The rest I can't answer, never tried the screen mirroring and probably never will as I find it useless ^^
But I'd be grateful for feedback so I can put it in the first post.

I updated the firmware first and then the MCU, but I don't think the order matters.

I will try to see if I can get it connected wirelessly later. What is the status on the DPI problem? Any news?

Thanks!
I am writing with that new WhatsApp contact which turns out is Andream's After Sales. They told me they addressed my feedback regarding the DPI to their software design team and they might debug it after the Chinese New Year festival.

Let's hope they actually do it.

display options

Can anybody recommend display settings (brightness, contrast etc)

The colour is slightly off (as seen in the first page of this thread) - kinda lacks that depth

I did some testing and determined that Carplay calling works fine when I'm disconnected from BMW bluetooth, but when connected to BMW bluetooth and I answer a call with Carplay I can't hear the caller even though the caller can hear me. Anyone else have this problem? I'm using ios 13.3 and the MMI software is v2.0.2.6.gpe.b and MCU is 19.12.12.21 so I think everything is up to date.

I can clear any fault codes with my scan tool and reset all maintenance items the same as if the mmi wasn't installed. But I have read reports of others no longer being able to code with Bimmercode so I don't know what the cause or differences are between those having issues and those that aren't.

I can code through Bimmercode as well, and I am able to detect fault codes as well. I don't know if that means that a mechanic is able to write to the service history in the car though.

I just tested to see whether I could get Screen Mirroring to work wireless, but it doesn't seem to work. I need to be connected through the USB and have a .APK installed called Autolink on my Android phone.

Can you make a picture of how it looks like on the display to add in post 2?

Hi Folks. To those people who fitted it in the glove box - would the wiring harness not reach below the glove box to where the pollen filter is? There is space under there and it doesn't seem too far below where the HU connector is..?

If the F20 is anything like the F82 then the problem is the original cable from the headunit to the screen is too short to reach there, especially on a RHD car.

It only just reaches to the gap between the glovebox and the headunit.
