I will be upgrading to the FX-180 in the future and selling my FX-150.

I did buy the fuel filter. More for peace of mind. I figured the filter is not going to hurt anything.

Honestly I do not think BMW would build an engine that needed an after market filter to protect it, and the Dorch set up does not come with one. So my opinion is you do not need it
Appreciate your post. I thought you ended up getting E50 tune with your current set up tho and it was fine? Did rail pressure randomly start going bad?

Also do u know how much you're making about on your tune? It's the exact same set up I was going for and I was aiming for 580-600 wheel but seems like everyone's number vary wildly.

The E50 tune was fine until the OA temp got up to 100 degrees. The rail pressure would drop further in the heat. I got a revised map after my "final" map to drop the boost a bit. So now it runs with no problems but with a bit less power. Not ideal but at this point it is my only option.

If I had to guess I would assume I'm making a bit over 500 HP on my E50 tune, based on what I see others are getting for virtual dyno's with a similar timing/boost outputs.

Do not let the fuel pump limit your goals. Get the Dorch stg2 for the FX-180, if you have high HP goals.

I do not think you will get 600 HP with just the pump/turbo and tuning. To get 600 you will need meth or other supplemental fueling.

Appreciate your input. I am definitely planning on going E50 as I know my numbers I want are not attainable on pump.

Interesting you say just over 500 wheel as I got 475 wheel virtual dyno on my 92 octane and Supr3me got his dyno on E50 the other day at 570 wheel so I would think you're more near 570? Unless that Pump is hindering more timing etc

As for the fueling limits I'll definitely keep what you said in mind. Just weird because Dorch stage 1 says it can support up to 600WHP while Spool FX-150 has a decent amount of CC over their stage 1 so would have thought it would have been more than enough for using E50 for 570-600 wheel but guess not lol.

Have got the TU pump And all supporting mods to run MHD ST2 hpfp e30. Dynoed at 518hp at the crank. Feels fast and cars running very well. Been looking at some custom maps lately would it be much faster as to where itís worth the money to get a custom e50 tune? And what sort of power will I be looking at. Iím in the U.K. so ethanol is quite expensive as we donít have it on pump. I buy mine in bulk 48 l at a time. Costs around 2.70 per litre. So obviously mixing it at 50 instead of 30 would cost me a lot more money. So would it be worth it.

The MHD Stage 2+HPFP E30 tune maxes out the stock turbo.

The TU pump won't handle more than about E37 with that tune/torque/AFR profile from what I've seen of others logs.

For more power you'll need a turbo upgrade, bigger HPFP and custom tune. Even then not much gain going past E40.

Man was this thread a read lol. Anyways with advancements in tuning and other performance related parts the limit that we're seeing with pump gas is only going to increase. That being said there seems to be a general consensus that you run out of octane when pushing 600whp. I've seen guys in the drag racing scene run RaceGas concentrate or somewhat more recently BOOSTane. in the small amount of research I've done into these products they're not the typical parts store "octane booster". With BOOSTane bringing up 93 octane to a 101 octane level and RaceGas bringing it up similarly (more is needed though). My question is then. Why has no one looked into running a higher octane fuel?

I travel a lot so having to blend into an e50 or using e85 would be unreasonable for me. Tossing 6 cans of RaceGas or BOOSTane in the trunk is a much easier option. As of now my best option is to simply run two different tunes. One for raceday and one for commuting.
