N55 EWG Wastegate Replacement

Just for clarification my 435 has been mechanically stock since new and is used as a daily since my E92 N54 likes to break something every 5 miles

Since last July I've been hearing a strange knocking/ticking sound when I hit boost and at first I thought it was the motor making some strange sound but I guess I was wrong because two weeks ago, I got a drivetrain malfunction and when I scanned for codes it said "123511 - Electric Wastegate, wastegate flap: sluggish" so I figured okay it's the wastegate going bad..

However I cannot find many other N55 EWG owners who experienced this, fast forward to today the wastegate acted up again and I got the drivetrain malfunction with the same exact code.. and this time I got another code for charge air pressure too low (keep in mind I didn't drive the car for a week because I was using the E92)

Has anybody DIY replaced the EWG on the N55? I only found videos pertaining to the N20 wastegates but nothing on the N55, and most forum posts I found were regarding the PWG so that was no help.

Also, is this rare for an EWG to go bad on an N55? What are the odds my 435 wastegate goes bad before my rattling N54 wastegates

+1 on this I got similar codes as well trying to figure out if it's the boost solenoid or if it's the EWG going out. Here I'll post up my codes I got for mines as well

Hey! Running into the same exact issue now. Code p126b, as well as under boost codes. Some place saying has to be done at a dealership but may have to replace turbo. Saw an N20 on here say they just reprogrammed the EWG. What was the result of this? Thanks!

Took it to the dealership they quoted 1600 to replace the actuator, not many options as I took it to several shops, not near any BMW specialized shops as I'm in school right now.

Hey, take a look at my last post,

Same codes,

So for the first one, I found out my charge pipe blew a clamp, got that fixed

for the remainder, I had to get my wastegate adjusted accoridngly to ISTA,

I highly doubt your wastegate is shot, and most likely just need to be calibrated or adjusted.

I'm on a 2015 335i.

Also when you clear the codes, do they all disappear or stay? as when I would go to clear my Wastegate codes, none of them would disappear and just stay there untill I kept restarting it till it wasn't in limp.

Hey I got rid of my 435 shortly after making this post and now own a 440. But back then every time I cleared the code it would come back every few days and it would rattle under boost, not sure if the new owner fixed the issue (hopefully lol)

So refreshing though I have not had a single issue with my B58 compared to my N54 and N55.

I had my 2015 435i at the dealer last fall for a wastegate replacement under warranty. They can fail but is rare.
