Got a feeling that at one stage the paddles came as part of a sport automatic option. The cost was tiny in the grand scheme of things (from memory only around £100) and hence almost all auto cars had it fitted; can only assume the AUC you saw was one of the exceptions where that option wasn't ticked!

ETA: Sport automatic is now standard on the 440i but not sure how long that's been the case or if it ever became standard on the 435i.
This is correct.

Automatic Vs Sport Auto

Paddles and slightly quicker shifting for the £100/£150 well spent. Seems odd anyone or any dealer order car would not spec it. Of course not everyone would see the £100 value in what I've outlined above.

Didn’t spec sport auto on my current car. It’s standard on my upcoming 4GC. I don’t like the paddle layout anymore - I think the E46 M3 had push/pull paddles so they felt more in line with how the manual shifting worked (push gear down, pull gear up). Now it’s left/right and I didn’t like the change

Maybe only £100 but why spend it if you’ll never use it?

Agreed if it's not what you want. My thoughts even if I didn't need it might be for resale value but again that might be 10 years away etc so who cares. Enjoy the new car

My 335i came without paddles and also with the "non-sport" shifter. I retro-fitted them both. Neither is hard to do.

So not a different gearbox or anything? Just paddles that feed in. Thanks, I was worried it was a totally different box. I'm not pursuing that one as it is v low in options anyways but good info thanks.

£635 in Depreciation

So you are looking at around £850-£900 a month to drive a car for 20-40 mins per day and you are locked in to these costs for 48 months.

And you think these costs are not insane?
Correct IMO.

Depends on your priorities. I find the costs of golfing exorbitant. I find some of the fancy overseas holidays a ridiculous waste. If you can afford it and you want it, it’s your money to spend how you feel.

Just like you are free to do with yours whatever you want. I am sure we wouldn’t all on here agree with that as the best way to live life....

Indeed and completed the RIS in Friday. . Loving the winter sun on the paintwork.

Silverstone interior has survived 2 football matches so far too. What a machine the CP is with the MPE. I was really in the fence about the volume but he'll yeah. It's awesome!

Azurite Black M3 CP MPE collected https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1539862

Indeed they do! Mine actually has the optional comfort seats and the Nappa leather. It's an exceptionally nice place to spend time

Excellent, I am another that really likes them. In many ways, a logical upgrade from my 4GC in the hunt for more practicality. Just prefer the more upright boot of the big SUVs.

Whereas I have a SUV (an Audi..) and would be looking for something more car like with some practicality and a raised driving position...

Looks very smart, it actually seems to suit lighter colours.

A lot of spec on yours that the Luddite in me wouldn’t be bothered about - but I would probably go 640i xdrive...in silver with black nappa, comfort seats, hud, big wheels, m sport plus pack, upgraded hi fi, and some other bits and bobs...

I agree, one of the few cars that looks better in white than gunmetal etc. I quite like that, it's sort of bravely obtuse. So big you have to give it a nod. I'd have one and not give a monkeys given the chance!

Booked to drive a 340i demonstrator next week. Am assuming it's near as dammit identical to the 440i coupe.

Lot of 3 series stock getting cleared on good deals which is due to the new model I assume?

I was actually surprised how deep the boot is, they initially supplied an x3 boot mat by mistake and it was lost in there!

Obviously does lack height though, so wouldn't be good for carrying a big dog etc.

Ps if anyone wants an F25/26 genuine boot mat make me an offer!
