At last - CarPlay becomes useful!!

Straight from the Apple wwdc, iOS12 will allow other navigation apps to be used including Google Maps and Waze.

THATS MORE LIKE IT APPLE!

You could use Waze before but had to jailbreak so I see this as a key thing in making me use CarPlay more, at all even because before thought it was useless, especially with Apple Maps and its inaccuracy with locations and routing

I've heard a lot of people are really pleased about this.

I've always used the car nav rather than the Apple maps, never used Waze before. Is it much better than the car and Apple/Google maps?

Waze is good for speed camera alerts which BMW sat Nav doesn't offer, they do in Range Rovers though and I presume therefore Jaguar as well which is a nice touch

This is great news indeed.

Waze is great for dynamic routing, especially in urban areas, as it get la much more comprehensive real time data than RTTI does.

Does this mean that waze will show directions on HUD / cluster too? If so that is brilliant.

I prefer waze to the bmw navigation.

If this happens I'll add Apple car play for sure. Doubt it will add anything to the HUD.

Having 'inherited' my wife's iPhone (she has a Samsung S9) and managed a cracking £7 for 5GB data and unlimited minutes / texts, I am really pleased that I will be able to have Waze on Nav.

I have it on my works Android phone, but it means taking my works mobile with my at weekends etc.

Also I have Apple Music and could not do Waze and Apple Music at same time.

I prefer Waze over what VW call sat nav, not saying that VW Nav is bad but getting a map of the British Isles and throwing a dart in the general direction of where you need to go would be more accurate

It's horrendous, even the speedlimits it displays are bollox.

Some roads it says are 40 have never ever been 40mph always been 30mph.

Maybe they got their diesel engineers in to do the sat nav systems too?
