Stolen BMW

My cousin had his house broken into on Saturday night in Kings Heath, Birmingham. They snapped the cylinder lock in the back door and took the car keys for his BMW 320d and his wife's Clio.

His has a private plate so is easy to spot. Keep em peeled!

Ditto... may sound extreme but iíd be more than happy if they crashed and burned.

Hope they didnt cause too much damage... and the insurance are accommodating.

I live in Sutton Coldfield so will keep an eye out.

I hope they catch them but I would doubt they have the same plates on the cars now. Itís happened to a few people I know. One in broad daylight. They just came in through the unlocked back door while people were home, took the keys and were gone in seconds.

I never leave my keys in the house when Iím not there and always take them upstairs with me at night. Doors remain locked at all hours too.
My spare is at a friends house!

Unfortunately this is how it is today regardless of where you live.

Same here - Spare keys at another house, house doors always locked, the key goes with me when out and with me to bed. If someone wants my car that bad they can ask me for them because let's face it, if thieves know owners leave keys downstairs surely that supports their operatus modi.

Spoke to my cousin tonight, his car is a 2012 320d that he has had from new, with only 19,000 miles. It was his pride and joy and immaculate. He is gutted to say the least.

A number of gangs from West Midlands are targeting more rural areas bordering the West Midlands.

Easier pickings, they feel safe as living (or where) in low crime zones, older houses with old style locks etc.

I imagine same will happen in other parts of the UK with 'city' gangs moving their thieving to easier areas.
