Bilstein Struts Question
I just purchased a new pair of front struts for my f31 with adaptive suspension and got them delivered yesterday. The passenger side strut is fine, no damage, but the driver side strut's black cap that goes over the electrical plug is cracked. Pics below. Is this piece important/necessary for the strut?
They offered a replacement for the entire strut, but I already made an appointment to get them put on on Monday, so I'm not sure if I should reschedule and wait for the new part or if that bit isn't even needed. Last edited by dantruck; 05-15-2021 at 12:53 PM.. |

Just had mine installed about a month ago. I think it's just a protective cover; as long as the connector isn't damaged you should be OK. BTW, those suckers are expensive! Also just replaced the passive shocks on my Mercedes with B4s for almost 1/10th of the price!

dantruck, were you able to remove the cover and inspect the connect?
If no connector damage - the installation can go forward. The cover should be available as a replacement part. Ask your dealer that sold you the struts. |

I had the same issue when mine arrived. The cover was cracked. Still waiting to hear on a replacement. Went forward with install and put the cover on and used some electrical tape to hold it together and in place for now.
