This DIY is for F20/F30 with LIM function only mainly non-US car. The DIY will require you to replace multifunction steering wheel switch and VO Code the car.

Apologies for resurrecting a thread from the dead but has anyone tried retrofitting Active Cruise Control? I have normal cruise control factory fitted.

hi guys, sorry to revive an old post.
I just bought an F30 from BMW with a premium selection warranty (CPO in US) in Germany. I am still waiting on the dealer to do the inspection, but as soon as I get the car I would like to install the CC in it, as it only has the LIM button. My biggest concern is the 2y warranty, as I do not want to use it. Would the dealer be able to detect that I have added the CC ? I am planning on removing the CC and the required coding every time I go to the dealer, but I am not sure if BMW will be able to still detect that I had fiddled with the coding and VO. Anyone has any idea about this? I will probably try to code a few more things, and before going to the dealer to remove everything added by me just so they can not find a reason to cancel my warranty. On my E46 I know I was able to just use an initial backup to code the car back, but I am not sure if it is the same for the F30. Thanks. |

Danke.
I was just a bit scared. Bought the car specially for the premium selection warranty (also price was a bit lower than privates in my region) and the first six months I have also the no hassle warranty. I really don't want to loose it, as it's nice to have Coming from someone who is in Germany (and probably german) is really helpful. Car is awesome, but I really want the CC. Who orders HUD, NBT, leather and connected but not CC? I've already got my cable and I'm looking now for Esys (if you have a working one I would be very happy if you can pm me with a link) and tomorrow I'm supposed to pick up my car with a new TUV. |

Works on F31
Hi all,
First time here, and first time BMW owner. I have been searching this forum and other places and just wondered 1 thing: Will the coding for F30 also work for F31? Maybe a stupid question so forgive me if ignorant. I see a lot of references to F30, but not F31. I have ordered all the hardware to do the cruise control retrofit, but wanted to double check about the coding. |

LIM as Cruise Control
Hello,
my car is a BMW 318d Sport, year 2012 (F30). The steering wheel has the LIM button + limit speed selector. Does anybody know if there is a way to code the LIM button so that it behaves as Cruise Control instead of Speed Limit, without buying and installing the retrofit for the steering wheel with three buttons + speed selector? |

Does anybody know if part number 61319229484 is for the sport steering wheel?
I found it on ebay, has LIM on the left upper button (not SET), but I don't know if it fits on my steering wheel (in the picture). |

Thanks @atzebmw, I've bought the switches and plan to make the retrofit next days.
In tutorial it is the variant with SET, but SET coded to act as LIM. Is coding the same for switches with factory LIM? |

I have made the retrofit.
Both LIM and Cruise Control work as expected. As a note, only FA coding was needed, the three FDL codings was already done, I have just checked them. For removing the airbag I have used BMW method, because I don't like to rotate the steering wheel with battery disconnected. But it is easier with a philips screwdriver and not a torx 20. |
