B58 Pure 800 Vs. VTT GC

Greetings,
I am looking to get more power out of my 2016 F30 340i and have come down to the Pure 800 and VTT GC that was just released.

I have read about the Pure 800 and so far people have had nothing but great results with it and no issues so far. However, Vargas Turbo just released B58 GC turbo upgrade and I couldn't be more impressed with the price.

I know cheaper isn't always better, however I don't know much about this brand and its reliability. Any feedback or first hand experience about VTT much appreciated!

My goal is 500-550whp.

340 Build:
- CTS Downpipe
- CTS Charge Pipe
- Dinan Midpipe
- AEM Meth Kit
- AFE Drop in Filter

Cheers!

Personally, I would go pure 800. Yes it's more expensive, but it's been tested and verified. Plus they have a lot of cars running the kit which gives you more people to talk to and reference. Spend the extra money and get a known, quality kit.
I am not saying VTT isn't a good kit as it hasn't been vetted, but it's brand new and has taken forever to get released. I don't recommend being an early adopter. I was one with big turbos and it's caused me lots of headaches. If you do go VTT, wait it out until it's been tested.

VTT have a good reputation and I think you'll get much better results for money spent with the VTT GC. If I was to upgrade my turbo, this is where my money would go.

VTT has a better value but has yet to show some serious numbers like the Pure800. That's why a lot of people are waiting for the GC+. I think one benefit is that you can push the GC without getting in the 650+ range where people seem to start having issues on stock engines.

This is my thought process. If you aren't planning on building your motor the Vargas may be a better value for your goals.

Yeah the Pure 800 is $2,500 which is not bad at all for a turbo that can push 700whp+ from what I have seen so far. And yeah that is true, lots of people are already running the Pure 800. I know that Pure is a safe bet.

I was planning on waiting couple more months to see how the VTT GC runs. Really wanna see how reliable it is. Thank for the advice!

For $1,600 the GC has an amazing price and for sure would be capable of making the power that I am looking for. However, my main concern is reliability. I want to make sure this turbo won't fail on me or anything. I like the fact that it's basically a plug and play, just like the Pure 800.

Yeah for sure, but I am not really concerned about pushing lots of power. I just want to keep it in the 500-550whp. I feel that power level is good enough too the point I am not abusing the engine too much. I want to make good power but in the most reliable way possible. At the end of the day it is my daily driver and I am planning to keep it for a while.

Actually I am planning on building my motor but way down the line. Once more parts are available and more testing has been conducted, I will for sure in the future (couple years) build it and try to make some serious power (700-800whp). But for now it is my daily driver and the 550whp range is plenty for me at the moment.

Both turbos will easily achieve the power you are going for. We offer both brands and i have not had a single bad experience with either one.

From my experience, both have shown stellar support to our customers and stood 100% behind their kits.

Great to know that! Thanks for the input. I will still wait couple more months to see how the new VTT GC are running. Time will tell how they hold up. Appreciate that Cheers!

I was in the same boat but when I read on the vtt website that it comes with a one year no hassle warranty I just went for it. Does that mean they will cover your labor costs etc if something goes wrong, probably not. But I give you credit for being patient. Hoping mine will be in the mail soon.

Yeah that one year warranty really helps to just pull the trigger and buy it. I honestly just don't want to be taking my car apart again since its my daily. But I really appreciate your feedback. Hope it all goes well when you receive the turbo! Must be exciting. Cheers!

Let’s note in this thread who and who set up the VTT turbine. I am going to refer to https://www.wedgeperformanceracing.com/. There, Steven Brachulis does this.

VTT only sell you the cold side of the turbo. You will need install it to the hot side of your stock turbo yourself. The Pure800 has both sides of the wheel upgraded (hot and cold).

Both wheels are upgraded with the VTT. It just doesn't come with the turbo manifold/exhaust housing. It's just like pure's old Stage 1 offering.
