BMW 340i Downpipe to Turbo V-Band. Magnetic Oil Drain Plug

Long story short a shop told me I had an exhaust leak at my downpipe to turbo mate. I'm wondering if I should replace the V-Band (Any recommendations for a good aftermarket v-band also what size v-band?). I'm already planning on replacing the crush washer.

Also since i'm looking at buying parts I wanted to buy a magnetic oil drain plug but cant find one for the 340i.

Any recommendations?

Why do they think there is an exhaust leak? Doubt you need a new clamp, maybe just the new gasket. If you find a magnet plug let us know.

I’ve bought the gasket from here before

https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...w2LWdhcw%3D%3D

And here’s a link to the Vband clamp

I've got Dimple magnetic plugs all over my N55. Oil, front & rear differentials, transfer case and automatic transmission. They are the strongest and hold up to high heat.

What's different about the oil drain plug in the B58 in the 340i? Have you checked Dimple?

Well since you asked. I dropped my car off at a shop (at 8AM) for a turbo blanket install and they fucked around all day then decided to start the job at 4PM. They contacted me "Hey you have an exhaust leak at the turbo to downpipe connection and also we wont have enough time today to install your blanket. We don't want to install the blanket before we fix your leak. It'll be $530 to fix the leak and the parts will get here in 5 days."

Thanks for the info. I just haven't found a site that has a fitment information section that includes the b58 / 340i. I'd rather not buy a $15 plug if my car isn't included in the verified fitment section.

Your 340ix B58 engine oil drain plug is BMW# 11137535106 which is the same plug used on my 335ix N55 engine.

I've been using a Dimple Magnetic Drain Plug for two years now. Dimple uses a special magnet that is extremely powerful yet it still works under high heat conditions, unlike cheaper inferior magnets. See photos.

My Dimple Magnetic Oil Plug is inexpensive insurance for my $6,000 BMW engine.

Below is the link. Make sure to choose the size M12x1.5x18

Seeing as the only issue my first oil analysis had at 30k was high iron, this would probably help that. Not solve the issue (hopefullynot bearings), but keep it from being in the oil.

$530 to replace the downpipe gasket and the bracket?!? Jesus dude wtf. You could do it yourself for the cost of the parts only and a hour of your time

2015 F3x 335i xDrive
Dimple Drain/fill plug sizes
M12x1.5x18 Oil
M18x1.5x12 ZF Automatic Transmission
M22x1.5x9 Rear Differential, Front differential and Transfer Case

Same oil drain plug fits B58 engine.

If anyone has a question whether their car uses the same size plug, the answer is simple. Go to Realoem website, then lookup part number for the plug for the car above, and their car to see if the part numbers match.

Hope this helps!

Great. I may have to purchase this bolt. No issues so far on your 335 with it?
