Supra Fuel Pump Upgrade DIY

Hope this HPFP DIY helps. Feedback welcome.

***UPDATED METHOD 2023***

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything below this line is for reference only

***If you don't want to cut your wiring or rotate the connector, BMS offers a plug and play adapter.***
https://www.burgertuning.com/product...ension-harness

To avoid having difficulty with the fuel line, simply thread the hard line onto the pump and fuel rails first. Then tighten down the pump to the cylinder head.

Datalog: https://datazap.me/u/kern4179/stage-1-93-tu-pump

Edit: We got confirmation that the TU pump connector can be rotated, so there's no need to extend the wiring manually. Here's a DIY.

3 years later, I wanted to highlight what I've learned and what I'd do differently if I were to do it again. Hope this helps

Great DIY, well done and I'm looking forward to seeing the data logs.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Quick observation - Does the connector not unscrew from the pump? It looks like there is a screw that could be undone, the connector assembly pulled away from the side of the pump (eg right as looked at from the front when fitted), rotated 180 degrees and pushed back on. I guess it depends how the connection is made inside the pump, but might be worth investigating on the original pump if it looks the same? Difficult to tell from the video!

Excellent DIY

Could a harness adaptor be made with the hpfp electrical connector (Adapter 12518638006) and a female version on the other end for extending the length rather than cutting and crimping the existing harness.

I'm going to wait a while to mess with it if anything. These are still hard to find and if it fails or needs to be replaced, i want the stock one as a backup. But it doesn't look screwed on. It's like riveted/welded.

The female connector isn't available separately. At least I couldn't find one in my searches. It would also make the entire thing more bulky.

Data log added. Pressure holds pretty good. Resetting adaptations might make it hold tighter to the HPFP Targets, but honestly at this point I'm not worried about it anymore. Just need to run out this tank of 93 so I can begin E85 testing

I’ve just bought the B58TU HPFP from a UK eBay seller.

He made a tool for changing the orientation of the electrical connector as shown in the photo.

He didn’t go into details but he sells them at a good price - Got mine for £355 delivered.

Once received next week I’ll install and report back.

If anyone is interested, keep an eye on his eBay listings.

There isn't any used ones available on eBay - EU or US at the moment.

Close up photo of the connector? BMS makes a 3 position extension connector for the Mercedes intakes that looks really similar.

It looks pretty much like every 2-pin connector, just reeeeally deep.

Got it. They own a 2020 340i I'll see if they can make an adapter for it to make sourcing the pump a lot easier.

How much did you pay for the shipping of the pump from UK?

An adapter to make the pump connection longer so you don't have to cut/splice the factory wire harness like in the video.

$600 but i've seen it as low as $300. Like I said in the video, the main challenge is finding a junkyard that's willing to ship to the US. On eBay it's easier (I just messaged the seller to give me a shipping quote).

I didn't feel like waiting around for a cheaper option but if you're patient they'll pop up. Or if you're really patient, I'm sure by the end of this year we'll start seeing people part out wrecked G20s. The 330i and M340i have the same pump along with all the other other G-series cars and SUVs that have the new B48/B58 engine.
