Playing videos from USB
Hi guys, I am using a 2TB Seagate Slim hard drive to store music and videos. My car indexes my music collection without any issues. I can search by artist, title, etc and I get cover art. I can also see my videos listed. However, when I try to play them nothing happens. My videos are in MP4 format and I have verified they play fine from the hard drive connected to my laptop and PC at home. I've read some people say this feature has to be code while others say it does not. I have a 2015 F36 with navigation.
If coding is needed I believe I need to enable it here?: HU_NBT 3003 API_USB_VIDEO

I can't get my videos to even display in the I drive menu, after reading on here I put the files (MP4) in a separate folder and gone to the *more media* selection but there is no option for videos and they don't show up if I browse the whole directory.
Any ideas? I have professional nav |

Do you get sound but no video? If so, it's almost certainly a codec NBT can't use. Are you a Windows user? If so, there's a sample video that comes with the OS. It should be in the Video directory by default and I think it's an avi file. Try this one. I believe it's got animals in it. I know for sure this one works as is.

AFAIK, you have to check these values in NBT:
API_USB_VIDEO: both [03] ENT_CODEC_OGG: aktiv [01] ENT_CODEC_VCD: aktiv [01] ENT_CODEC_XVID: aktiv [01] ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT: aktiv [01] Plus, if you want video while in motion: SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX: [FF] SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MIN: [FF] |

Weird guys...I renamed the video file and now it plays just fine. The file name had a "-" at the end right before the .mp4 extension.
Thank you!

NBT can be finicky. I'm still trying to figure out why some m3u files I created show up as something like $35E43A in the list of playlists. Of course documentation is pretty thin in these areas.

Have a few different video files on my usb but iDrive cannot see any of them... There is also music on there which works fine which is weird. I think I've coded correctly !!

If you cant even see the movies then you have a different problem than me. You may need to code it. I could see the movie files but it wouldnt play. Its working now for me great though!

I can't play any video from USB, and I have pretty much every feature you can get on the car, so I am assuming the correct equipment is there. Should it work without any coding being done, or does some small amount of coding need to be done?
Will it only play .mp4 files? Will it play .MKV files FYI DVD's play just fine, even when in motion. Thoughts? |

Have you tried different mp4 files? At first I couldn't get my car to play the video. Now it works great. |

Can we please clarify if CODING is required to play videos from USB while NOT moving.
My 2016 f80 can't do it. Thanks.

Hey everyone!
Posting my very first question on this forum! I am still having issues playing videos from USB. See details below: When USB plug my USB to armrest USB socket, I can go to Multimedia -> External Sources, and I can see the file starts playing. However, I can only hear the soundtrack but no picture. Within the Multivideo section -> in "video" there is no file video listed? I confirm all below have been checked and set to: API_USB_VIDEO: both [03] ENT_CODEC_OGG: aktiv [01] ENT_CODEC_VCD: aktiv [01] ENT_CODEC_XVID: aktiv [01] ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT: aktiv [01] HU_NBT 3003 API_USB_VIDEO: aktiv Plus, if you want video while in motion: SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MAX: [FF] SPEEDLOCK_X_KMH_MIN: [FF] I'm using BIMMERCODE on iOS app. Headunit: Radio Professional (F-Series) (NO SATNAV) I reformatted the USB to MS-DOS (FAT). The file I'm trying to play is: Deadpool.2.2018.1080p.BluRay.H264.mp4 Have I missed anything? Thanks for all you help! T ***
