Insurance Rates for F30?

I'm 35 with a clean driving record (no tickets or accidents) and currently paying $2,788/year to insure my 2016 340i through AAA. I average about 10-12,000 miles per year and in the 10+ years I've been with them I've never filed a single claim.

I'm looking to switch providers and curious what others are paying and what kind of coverage they have? I've tried adjusting my coverage but that never seems to bring the price down by any significant amount.

The coverage I have is...

Bodily Injury $100,000/$300,000
Property Damage $50,000
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury $100,000/$300,000
Comprehensive Covergage $1,000
Collision Coverage $1,000

If you have any suggestions on companies that won't bend me over please let me know

That is really good coverage. It just really high. Mine is half that. I'm a defensive driver. I like to say that I've never been in accident(knock on wood big time here) but never into one that I cause.

I usually am the one who gets hit...or my car get hit park anywhere. So, usually the other driver pays for the accident.

That totally depends on you .... lowering your insurance can save you money... just don't go basic full coverage.

I can't really judge what you pay...I have bundled house and 5 cars total(5 family car insurance), all 5 family members are covered to drive any car...of course we all have our designated car. Mine an F36, pay $1300/yr for have of that coverage( some area higher than half of what you listed)

Farmers insurance

Bodily Injury $75,000/$150,000
Property Damage $50,000
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury $75,000/$150,000?
Comprehensive Covergage $500 deductible
Collision Coverage $500 deductible

I have AAA too for my '17 328d wagon. I'm 30, clean record, and my policy says 17k mi/yr (although it's really more like 20k).

My rate is $1672/yr for:
  • Bodily Injury: $100,000/$300,000
  • Medical Payments: $5000/person
  • Uninsured Motorists: $100,000/$300,000
  • Property Damage: $100,000
  • Comprehensive: Actual cash value (ACV) less deductible ($500 for collision, $0 for glass, otherwise $50)
  • Death Benefit: $15,000

I'm a bit surprised yours is $1k more for less coverage with similar vehicles from the same company.

I also have my home insurance through AAA, however the discount isn't very much at all.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'll definitely check out the companies you mentioned. Geico quoted me around $1,680 for pretty much the same coverage. I'll see if any of the others are cheaper. Thanks!

Yea I have no idea either. I'm surprised it's so much considering I have a clean driving record and have never filed a claim. Even the other cars I previously owned were almost just expensive.

I live in irvine as well and your coverage is quite expensive, that how much I paid when I was 23. I'd say with that coverage you should be paying less than $200/month. I've received quotes from AAA is one the most expensive I've seen including statefarm. I used to have geico and moved over to Progressive. Currently, I have the same coverage and another vehicle and renters insurance and I'm paying $2,200 a year. Try lumping in multiple policies to get you the best deal.

I just switched to Geico from Mercury insurance to take advantage of 15% off Geico giveback and my policy with Mercury was ending. I was paying $5200/year with Mercury insurance. With the same policy, I'm paying $2400/year bundled with 13' Prius and 07' 911 with Geico. The 13' BMW 328i itself is $600/year and I drive about 12k/year.

I'm 33
Had an accident and moving violation but those were over 5 years ago
Bodily Injury $50k/$100k
Property damage $50k
Uninsured/underinsured $50k/$100k
Medical $2k
Comprehensive/Collision $500

I would really consider increasing your liability limits. It's not really that much more expensive to bump coverage up to 250K/500K (or more, if your carrier writes higher policy limits).

There are lots of scammers out there, including rings that stage accidents, then run up massive medical bills with chiropractors for nonexistent soft tissue injuries. They target nicer cars like BMWs because the owners are more likely to have assests.

The personal injury lawyers who are in cahoots with these guys will realize that you have a lifetime of earning potential ahead of you.
