I've googled this problem however many posts haven't really broken down the problem completely and so I haven't been able to determine whether there is a fix without having to fork out $1500 to replace the head unit since I'm still a student lol. I'll outline the problem below:
- I have a 2014 F32 - Started a day ago randomly - Headunit reboots every 3 minutes. - Still have the problem after consistently rebooting the head unit. I would hold the volume stock for 30 seconds which would prompt the splash screen to reappear. I'm assuming this is a restart but I'm not completely sure if it's a full reboot since it takes me back to the menu I was on before instead of the main screen. - If I try to access the nav, it stays on the loading screen as seen below and doesn't move from that unless I exit the menu or the head unit restarts by itself. - If I try to turn on Bluetooth, it gets stuck on the loading screen until the head unit reboots or I exit the menu. -- When I go to connections, it says I must turn on Bluetooth but it doesn't let me actually turn it on. - When I plug in my iPhone X, the phone shows that it is charging, however, the car does not recognize the phone is connected so I can't play music. - I downloaded an update from BMW hoping that would fix it but the car doesn't seem to recognize that the update is on the USB and just reports back saying there's no update on the USB. I thought that maybe the Bluetooth I coded in last year somehow messed up so I reverted the code back to that backup but nothing changed, still had the issue. EDIT: I found the issue and fixed it myself but forgot to update this post. It turns out that if you connect a phone that has an emoji in its name, your Bluetooth will just shit out lmao. I had to reset it the unit and it fixed the issue Last edited by ODX7; 04-02-2020 at 04:53 PM.. Reason: Added images. |

UPDATE:
I called a BMW specialist that's local to my area. He told me to bring in the car and said he's dealt with it before. He said it could be an issue with the CAN-BUS system. He then said to drop it off and will try to diagnose the issue charging me hourly. Does this sound like a reasonable issue that could be causing it? I'm not trying to get played |

Unless you screwed with coding or wiring, it's most likely not a can-bus failure, but an equipment failure. |

I don't think it is the NBT unit itself. Maybe another component failing that is on the loop. NBT units are pretty solid, much better than early days of CCC.

And a car interior is not the best environment for electronics that fail with high heat. |

I saw a post while ago on this forum with the same problem.
It was dead HDD and the guy ended up replacing HU with used one from eBay, because you can't install new HDD and write new data on it. (That's what he said) Full NBT retrofit kit on eBay is 500$, you can find HU itself for around 200-250$ |
