Automatically bring mirrors in when locking?

So each time I park up I get out lock the car and forget to turn the mirrors in. So I unlock press button and re lock. Mildly irritating.

I can't find setting in the idrive to do this on the key press. Am I missing it somewhere?
2017 335d msport plus is this makes a difference?

You have to hold the BMW button for a few seconds to make the mirrors fold. Alternatively you can have the car coded so that they fold as soon as the car locks without having to hold the button in.

As said. Press and hold lock button, and the mirrors fold in.

Great stuff. Thanks. I was worried some would suggest I would have to do some coding or other unfathomable dark art.

If you really wanted to you could have them coded to fold automatically when you lock the car, instead of having to hold the button

A prefect example of why I don't think I am cut out to do coding. Don't get me wrong I love the idea of being able to do little bits of dark magic to move my mirrors.

Is there a how to code my BMW for idiots. I mean real numtpties, proper full on numpties. Step by step. Buy this part no plug in here press this.
Everything I have seen so far assume some basics and your already into the system, which appears quite advanced to me.

Depending on how you fold them in, determines how they fold back out. If you fold them in with the button on the armrest, they open that way. However, if you fold them in by holding down the lock button on the key, the unfold when you unlock the car. Quite useful.

Why there isn't an option in the iDrive like the Audi has on the MMI to set them to operate as you prefer I'll never know.

I'll have to try this I didn't think they folded with holding down the roundel button without coding. So I'm assuming if you want to do it with comfort access you have to code it?

works out of the box, you can also keep your finger on the door handle (lock part) to lock and fold the mirrors in.

Also press and hold the boot lock button closes the power boot (no coding) and I'm pretty sure press and hold lock raises the windows if down (the same way holding unlock lowers them.

do all 435d have the option to code this?

reason I ask was I couldn't get my mates 435d gc to take the code.he has electric wing mirrors but it didn't have the button on the door to force it to fold in.

If he doesn't have the button to fold the mirrors then he doesn't have electrically-folding mirrors so how could simple coding work if the mirror housing doesn't even have the motor?

Put simply: No.

You're obviously not spending enough time on the BMW configurator

It is useful to have the option to not fold the mirrors in when freezing conditions are expected overnight. The sound that emanates from frozen door mirrors as they unfold automatically when you unlock the car gives me cause for concern.

I agree, it's pretty unpleasant!!

I only fold mine when in car parks and stuff, never bother when on the drive at home.

Ironically I coded mine to close on lock via Carly but am going to change it back. For me there are times when I’m nipping in and out of the car and don’t really need them to fold every time and would prefer the original option of simply closing them when I want via a longer press when I want to rather than every time.

Automatic folding mirrors...

Hey guys, new to the forum as i've just purchased a 435D convertible and done around 700 miles init so far. Absolutely love the car, but getting out the car and realising I didn't press the button to fold the mirrors in is driving me nuts lol

I've seen on this thread that holding down the lock button will fold the mirrors in... Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work on my car no matter how long i hold down the lock button.

Any suggestion

I have a convertible and mine is the same! I’ve tried coding thru Carly but doesn’t seem to do anything. I think comfort access is required for the Mirrors to fold on the lock key.
