Do they really care

I don't think they care as long as current people still buy.
When it comes out, people may buy this over the F30, but it's still their sale and will not be any cheaper.

Most of my friends are 6'+ so a GranCoupe is a no-go for me, as much as I may like them. If I wanted a four door, I would get the regular sedan so I could actually fit four of five of my friends and if not I would just get the regular coupe.
Did not know the car is available for consumers to physically review.

Cannibalization may occur, but that's going to be mostly the people who were considering higher spec'd F30's. I don't see the 4 GC as a showroom alternative to someone looking at a F30. Especially if it follows 6 GC suit and is a 4 + 1 "5" seater and not the true family friendlier sedan.

The 6 GC wasn't envisioned to give F10 shoppers another choice - it was aimed primarily to take some of the sales from CLS buyers, and to a lesser extent A7/S7 Buyers.

The 4 GC is aimed right at the A7/S7, and it should do very well since it should come in less expensive than the Audi in most configurations and offer better performance and effciency.

The four door luxo - coupe is a growing segment and BMW has been late to the game. I think for the better since it gives them the opportunity to offer a product without the other brand's shortcomings.

If they offer the N55/N54 in the upcoming 2 GC, that will be my next car to go alongside my E92.

Will need to know what the final product will look at. Right now, it's way too similar to the F30 but with a coupe roof. Can't compare the 6-Series to this because the 6 is very different from the 5-Series; this GC not much differentiating it.

But if you're sticking a standard 6 in this GC, and you need 4 doors, why would you pay as much as a 535iX?
You can bet the GC premium will be very similar to the $6500 hybrid premium over a standard 335i.

You'd pay as much ($65k) for a 4GC as a 535ix because they are going to drive and look very different. 535ix might be best suited to 55yo male in Pittsburgh, 4GC might be best suited to a well healed 35yo male in Miami.

BTW, I did pay for performance with the AH3. About 340HP/340lb ft, in fact.
Ooooooo come on now.
I have a F10 535i and I'm only 25 years old.

Yikes! This could pass for a 7-series Li (long wheelbase). It looks ... YOOOGE!

My guess is the production 4 Gran Coupe will look incredible, but much modest than speculated here. Now I would agree that the 4 GC "concept" iteration , may look similar to this. Amazing artistry demonstrated by the poster here, and an awesome job done.

I don't understand why some people think this car shouldn't exist. It's like being against gay marriage. If you don't want one, you don't have to buy one! It's not built for you.

I will gladly sacrifice some rear headroom and more money in the name of style and exclusivity. But, I want it to still have 4 doors and still drive like a 3 series. There is nothing like this that exists today, so I'm glad BMW is making it.

The 3 series and 5 series are clearly very different products from the 4GC. Just like the 5 and the 7 are clearly very different from the 6GC.

Also it looks huge because it's an illusion. You're not used to seeing these proportions in a car of this size. The roofline is super low. Bring the roofline up in your mind and it will magically look like a 3 series again.

But the shell makes a huge difference though. It's lower, longer and wider than the 3 series. To me, the 3 series is a great car but it is still too small for my taste. The old E39 5 series were the right size, but my new F10 is too big and heavy compared to the E39. The fact that is lower and sportier only makes it more attractive to me as I ideally would like to have a coupe but the realities of life do not allow me to do so.

I am frankly surprised that so many people complain about a new car being out to meet other people preferences and needs while BMW still sells a car (4 door 3 Series) that satisfies the needs of those that are complaining.

Really? I think the interior space of my F30 is very close to that my 03 540i M-Sport. Come to think of it I really miss that car.

Sure, but this thread is about the GC not the GT. Look at the 6GC for an idea of the rear.

While I miss the standard classic BMW segments and names (xi instead of "xdrive" ugh)
but this company realizes that there are riches in niches, and I think this will pay off for them.

I am so confused. Will there be a 3 series coupe? An M3 sedan\coupe? An M4 coupe\grand coupe? Or will they make all of these cars?

Exactly. The 4GC will be a very desirable car, just look at the reaction of the regular 4 Series Concept. Why does it matter if it costs $20K more than a base 328i?

BMW executives are LOVING you right now.

Create a gussied up 3 series, charge way more than the additional cost of production, and BOOM, pockets lined with money. In the meantime real enthusiasts are left wondering where their company went?

Oh yea, to the bean counters...
