What are the benefits of doing this please? I'm also in Scotland and haven't even had my 428i GC a month yet.

However it’s particularly for the 335d and less so the 330d. I don’t think you can on a 428i, you’d be better looking at XHP.

Does it make sense to get the Alpina map after having a remap done or is it better to get done at the same time as a remap, if thats possible ? Looking to get my remap done with Simon at Emaps.

The gearbox remap is better suited to the bigger power numbers, but it won't make much of a difference whether you do it before or after. It's a great mod btw - the car should've come with this from the factory.

You can apply it yourself if you have a laptop and cable - the software is freely available. It only takes a few minutes

I have a laptop that I just installed E-Sys on and the launcher yesterday and bought the cable incase I was going to get a remote remap, but I haven't got a clue about using Esys. Pretty proficient with PCs but never had the ball's as yet to use Esys. Done a fair bit of coding using Bimmercode and bimmerlink. Any links to the software and guides? That's if the alpina upgrade is doable by a newbie like me. Thanks

The instructions can be found HERE (thanks to bishbosh).

That thread also includes details of the DIY charger, which is cheap and easy enough to do yourself, but I'd be glad to lend anyone mine for deposit/ return postage costs. It's probably not strictly necessary for the gearbox flash as the actual flashing only takes a couple of minutes, but I preferred to play it safe

The only amendments to the instructions by bishbosh that I've researched myself due to issues on other cars is step 8, which now reads for me:-

8. Change Typeschlussel as follows to identify the car as an Alpina.
F11 LCI - 5D71
F10 - 5D51
F11, F06 - XB71 1211
F10 - XA71 1211
F31, F36 - 3E51 or 8K72 for cars from 2016
F32 - 3R51 F36 - 3E51
F25 - WY71 0316 (swfl 210C)

i don't believe Simon is working at present..(illness)..

He has just started back as i called him to arrange my remap next week, can`t wait now. Got everything in order to do the Alpina flash just rereading the instructions (thanks to bishbosh)before i pull the trigger.
