I have a 2014 435i and I plan on going FBO with a vrsf downpipe, vrsf FMIC, and a vrsf charge pipe. I'm just unsure on whether I should get the 5" or 6.5" vrsf FMIC. I was going to get the 6.5" FMIC because I thought it would provide better cooling for my engine, but after reading this thread, I guess bigger isn't always better.

I don't plan on upgrading my turbos and just sticking with FBO. I also plan on running MHD stage 2+.

I also have a muffler delete and res delete.

Thank you for any insight!
I recommend 6-7" intercoolers for FBO applications.

Wagner EVO II, CSF, MAD 7", Evolution Racewerks, BMS Race, VRSF, ATM,etc... all these 6"+ intercoolers would work

Depending on how hard you push the car, you can get away with the MAD 5", Wagner EVO I, VRSF 5", or Active Autowerke a

If you have the 5" BMS and you are looking for better cooling, check out the BMS race

If you are going with a stage 1 , i recommend a 5" cooler (Wagner EVO I, MAD, Active Autowerke)

Stage 2 6"+ (CSF, Wagner EVO II, Evolution Racewerks, MAD 7").

For a daily driver, you won't notice a difference no matter which brand or size you go with as any of these options is a major upgrade over stock

Intercooler recomendations

Hi, I know this is an old thread but gotta ask what intercooler I should buy.
I have a F32 with about stage 2 (280hp tuned, with sports cat, exaust).
I do go on tracks somedays and drift also.

I was considering wagner only when I thought bigger intercooler the better. After seeing other blogs... I changed my mind to VRSF HD for 550whp (5') cause it's cheaper than wagner...

BUT now seeing this thread... all the bar & plate and tube & fin stuffs made me confusing.

What intercooler should I get? Wagner competition? or just the VRSF HD...?

If you are running stage 1 tune, get a 5" high-density core (MAD/BMS). It's more than enough.

If you are running stage 2 or more, get a race high-density core 7" (BMS/MAD)

If you track your car and want the best possible track times, I'd consider the Wagner tube and fin as it does work well on the track with the fastest recovery between runs and the lightest weight

I am running a Stage 3 F30 N55 (so Hybrid turbo) with 450HP.
I am mainly tracking the car. So what you recommend?

My currently installed IC is a bar & blate from Do88 which is heating up like hell after 2 rounds of going hard!
Link to it

Thx Simon

Could be a mix of your turbo creating to much heat from high boost and intercooler heat soaking. Would have to see your Iat logs to see how the intercooler is performing.

Is that intercooler a 5 inch? You could try a 7 inch if so.

Here the link to the latest logs I did

https://datazap.me/u/sithf30/v15e-final?log=0&data=3-16

Outside temperature was around 55-60F
On the track with just 70F outside temp I was hitting more than 130F

The do88 has the same size than the Wagner Evo 2

Only two options really a larger cooler or a more efficient turbo. Closed air box may also help.

I think he is going to recommend his own brand

MAD/BMS offer larger intercoolers with high density cores, you can't go wrong with either one

Hey Mike,

so if I understood correctly, I have three options:
1. MAD
2. BMS
3. VRSF

What is the best in your opinion?

Thx

best regards

They will all perform the same

I recommend you check customer reviews on all three, availability, warranty and pricing when making a decision on which to get

Street car to have fun with
Stock engine internals

Navardi OTS Enhanced Stage 2 tune
Hi Flow Catted 4 inch downpipe
Upgraded all charge, boost, intake, turbo inlet and air box pipes

Stuck between the CSF 8115 and the Wagner EVO 2 Competition.
Which would you suggest? Or do you have a better suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Since it's a street car, I'd go with CSF.

Wagner's major benefit is the tube and fin core optimal for track use.
