MPPSK option disables active sound. What you hear is what you actually have

I am not so sure about that...
As far as I know MPPSK does not change anything regarding the ASD. How do you know it is disabled? Can you see that in the coding?

I coded my off with Bimmercode after I got my MPPSK installed. It was showing as active after the MPPSK install.
Didn't notice any difference to be honest. MPPSK is so loud it easily drowns out any minor sound difference with ASD active or not active. |

I have MPPSK, and I don't notice ANY difference when changing any of the coding 'documented' to turn off ASD. Is that because MPPSK really does disable it via the FDL coding? I don't know about that. |

I'd love to see if theres one I haven't tried. when the b58 cars started coming out, it was reported that the old method of FDL coding to disable ASD (choosing an invalid chassis/engine combination, IIRC) doesn't change the sound noticeably, and I didn't notice anything when I tried that on mine. There's also an ASD input code on the HU module, and that didn't change anything for me either. I'm back to stock values in all applicable ASD codes, since they didn't seem to do anything for me.

ASD
A lot. In the cabin on the driveway when I got home the sound was noticeably louder than before the install and the difference even at idle between comfort and sport+ was huge.
Turning off ASD made the cabin a lot quieter. Whilst that's kind of the point of the MPPSK, I can still hear the great sound with the window open and even without it open (although not at idle). Just feels more authentic: ie I’m hearing the engine - not a fake noise. Also still a significant difference between sport and comfort |

I noticed there were ASD modes and volume settings in the coding options too... could it be that the US default set up is different from UK?

More than likely - this kind of thing is very likely to be talked about in specific marketing departments. And e-sys definitely applies different defaults to different cars based on region/chassis code/etc.

Bringing this thread back since I just made this change.
MPPSK installed 4 days ago. Sounds great driving the past couple days, but I don't like the concept of ASD, so I turned it off today. Here's my observations (all in Sport Mode, BTW): The cabin is noticeably quieter at sub 1800 RPM cruising speeds. Not only that, but the subtleties of the exhaust come through better. ASD does not pipe in actual live sound, so when MPPSK burbles and rumbles, it is hidden behind the drone of ASD. Yes, if you don't really listen for the details, ASD sounds like a good idea as the cabin is a bit more... full..., but specifically when MPPSK is installed, it hides some of what you paid for, and the B58 sounds amazing. I'll know more after a long day on the road tomorrow, but as of now, ASD is staying off. |

What method did you use to 'turn it off'? The coding tricks I found previously didn't make any noticeable difference for me. |

Turning it off by coding does make a difference (it is then off).

My dealer ran my VIN twice and swore that my car had ASD. I took out my trunk panels on the left side to reveal my H/K amplifier (2015 335) but there was no ASD. Technicpnp said that they haven't come across a 3-series in the US that has an ASD, but they have seen them on 3-series in Europe. |
