Charge Pipe for f30 335i

Found this charge pipe on eBay if anyone is looking for one but doesn't want to buy the shady cheapest one or spend 200+ on a charge pipe. The brand is xs power the seller is very friendly and accepts offers. The fitment was perfect and quality was really good id say its as good as my friends vrsf one that he got but for a way better price. I installed both brands and it fits as good as the vrsf one. Here is the link if anyone wants to see it (sorry for the dirty engine bay):

OK let's see some logs/data that proves it doesn't have any boost leaks

I thought my VRSF stuff was totally fine at initial install, but ended up having issues.

ER is the best fit / safest option for a CP upgrade.

I looked one up — $375? Is that what they run in the USA?

That's about right, although you can typically catch them on sale. X-PH (forum sponsor) I think has a special right now for certain finishes.

OP's ebay seems to be a decent find, however for a few bucks more, i'd get this instead. CTS Turbo(free ship US & CA)

RWD- https://www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts...e-set-for-rwd/

X-Drive- https://www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts...pe-set-xdrive/

Not my thread but just sharing as FYI since someone posted about issues with CTS recently.

I had my own issues with VRSF IC+CP so i wouldnt necessarily recommend them either. You can read all about that on the Oring and boost leak thread.

I feel like any CP can have an issue, but the probability is generally lower for the higher cost brands like ER.

yeah, i replied in that thread but later removed my post because there was no response about the clip. he's the only one that i've read that ever had a problem with CTS. while it absolutely could have been the only defective pipe i've read about, (imo) from the photo he posted, the clip wasn't seated properly, therefore the pipe wasn't seated properly. but he was adamant that it was installed correctly, so there's nothing more to say.

i've also read just a few rare issue with ER pipes as well but it's mostly related to connections with certain intercoolers

FWIW here's a good review about CTS CP...https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...bo+charge+pipe

all I can say is prior to buying ANY product, one should read through as many reviews and do as much research on it as possible, so we don't need to keep reading threads and posts about shitty products that don't fit. if that particular CTS thread makes someone buy a better product, that's great.

I have CTS FMIC and FTP charge pipes and still think CTS puts out an excellent product for a great price, especially on sale.

This.

I spent countless hours reading through the forum/threads, even before i bought my 335i, just to learn about the platform, common issues, etc. Then additional research before choosing my mods, tune, etc.

Stating that it is 'just as good as VRSF' isn't saying much

What's easier? Removing CP from above or underneath the car.

Does the intercooler really need to come off?
Thanks

I went with BMS. Good price, no fitment issues and no problems (32000 so far). For me it was easier to remove out the top. Took some twisting and turning with patience to be sure I was clear of everything. I found it easier to remove the Intercooler as it gave me more room underneath during the install. Also, a chance to clean out all the trash collected around the Intercooler.

I also took the CP out the top. Aftermarket ones can be installed in any way really since they are two pieces. Highly recommend getting the coupler clamped and seated in the correct spot on one of those pieces before snaking it in (dont try and fit the coupler after the CPs are in.

Dropping the IC is extremely easy and i would recommend just dropping it as well. Infact, I wouldnt even bother installing a CP without an IC at the same time... Its such a cheap and effective upgrade.

I'm still putting the car together lol but ill check for boost leaks as soon as I get it buttoned up and running but I compared it to the OEM pipe they had about the same amount of play between them

It does not but I bought a car with damaged the intercooler had it off already anyway, id say it makes the job easier taking off the stock one. Intercooler itself is held only 2 screws and the 2 clamps on the pipes.
