Another Emaps recommendation!

Hi all.

So the day finally came around yesterday and Simon arrived at around midday to remap on my LCI 320i. He definitely knows what he is taking about, spent a good hour or so chatting to him as he did his various magic.

Anyway, that was an hour of what turned out to be almost 4 hours - they're not used to remapping many manuals so it took a little longer than expected. One test drive later, payment and then me out for another drive.

Now the results. This thing pulls like anything and is so responsive now, the mid range just keeps pulling. Remap was supposed to be 240bhp and 360Nm of torque, but it peaked at 410Nm and will settle at around 400.

Like a kid in a toy shop - there will be a nice drive later today to... nowhere... just want to drive this thing!

How much is it out of interest as my warranty runs out later this year and am tempted for the same.

I'm local to Simon, but he charges for fuel if it's a significant distance from the Midlands...mine was £299 - slightly cheaper as some because you don't get a dyno run, but he can arrange a meet at a dyno if you need it.

Might be a bit more for a 330d too.

His work is well within engine tolerances, feel free to PM if you have any questions about it.

I paid £350 for Simon to remap my 330d, but that was over 2 years ago now and not long after Tuning through the OBD port became widespread on these F series cars. It’s probably a little cheaper now if he doesn’t have to travel very far to get to you.

Took around 3 hours in total, that includes test drive.

Out of interest, how were the results for the post-remap power and torque obtained without a dyno run?

There is no way to measure bhp without a dyno, but Simon read the maximum torque through the OBD @410Nm on our test drive and said it will settle a bit afterwards.

The map he puts on tells him the bhp...I think a few on this forum have done dyno tests after and got the results that match what has been said.

Simon has a long term reputation of his remaps making around the power he claims, unlike some tuners who exaggerate figures a little.

Following all the glowing recommendations from my questions on my own 320i of a few weeks ago, he will be venturing into Essex for me in a couple of weeks. Cannot wait!
