I haven't tried yet. Luckily I have the optional fold down seats. I guess I will try to remove the trunk lining from inside. Worst case I will have to cut a hole to access the lock.

Ok good luck, I had to climb into the boot and remove the covering with quite a bit of difficulty to unlatch my lock after the emergency release also failed.just wanted to let let you know it is possible to remove the covering without causing any damage to the covering or plastic bits.

Ok great , as the cover helps with keeping the emergency release cabling from coming loose as mine did recently. Thanks I'll get this ordered if I decide to order a second Trunk Kit .

Thanks

We care about the quality of our products and more importantly about the experience our customers have installing and using our kits. Among all of the F30 Power Trunk kits we have sold so far (and there was quite a few delivered to customers) there have been a 3 or 4 instances where the locks have failed.

It's paramount for us to first replace these locks and secondly to get the faulty units back to our offices for an investigation. We'll do our best to apply improvements as necessary in order to prevent this from happening altogether.

Hello Maciej,

I have to inform you that I didn't yet started to install my kit receivef last january because I had no time so far.
I will have time in the coming weeks ti install it.
I hope that I will not have any trouble with my lock.
By the way, do you kown the reason why there are many cases of failed lock ?
Thank you very much for your answer.

If anyone has a problem getting in a locked trunk, because of a battery issue, this video should help.

If there is something wrong with the lock, I'm not sure if it will help or not..

Ever since I did the mod to the bracket so that it closes the lid properly (see post #306 in this thread), my power trunk retrofit has been working flawlessly. Very happy with this retrofit!! One time I was in a hurry and forgot to close my trunk when I had already started my car and was ready to go. It's so nice to hit the button under the dash to close the trunk without having to get out of my car and manually close it!!

Because I messed up on locating the hole for the switch, I just ordered a replacement trunk lid liner from ECS tuning on sale for about $50, so hopefully in the coming weeks I'll get the switch mounted perfectly and clear of any obstructions underneath. I'll post some pics when I do so.

Ok great, I had two lock failures so didn't want to risk a 3rd and I don't think suppliers would have wanted that as well.

Glad it's working well and hope when some of the kinks have been ironed out they will be able to supply to my region again as it's a really nice feature to have.

Unfortunately it's not ready and I can't give you any timeline at the moment.

We had to take a step back and improve the lock mechanism to make sure it won't fail under certain circumstances like it used to happen sometimes.
Everything should be ok now and all new orders are shipped with the new lock.

Don't forget to announce it on here if it ever becomes available for the F32.

Thank you.

Hi Patrys,

Does this mean that you are now able to supply the Retrofit Kit again to me as I was told by Maciej that my region will not be supplied the Retrofit Kit until the lock mechanism issue was sorted out.

Does this mean the soft close orders should be shipping soon too? I'm looking forward to that one!

Hello,

You have already encountered this problem, when my vehicle remains several days without use and I open my chest, it only opens half, then it does not do it anymore, I noticed that it was a long time No use, I reset the opening but it does not change anything
