N20 oil temps

Hi All,

As I previously posted, I am having troubles figuring out what is normal and what is not.

During the last service, I have replaced my spark plugs, coil plugs and installed my stepped VRSF intercooler. after that, I started having thermostat issues,Code 1D2404.

So did the swap, and noticed that my oil temps are now going past 95* (1/4), I have owned the car since 2018 and never had it over the 1/4 mark.

Now its fluctuating from 88*-108* oil temps and 90*-110* for the coolant during cruise(100-110 kph) and suburbia driving (60-80 kph). With the higher temps during cruise controlled driving.
All taken from bimmerlink obd, 1* variance with the dash hidden temp gauges.

Before anyone asks, yes. I have bled the system as per the bmw tis manual around 5x now. Its currently autumn here in Melbourne with ambient temps of 10*-15* miserable days with showers most days. Please help as I am
already going insane trying to figure it out as I am so used with the temp gauge being steady not going up and down. See the attached bimmerlink data (the higher temps are during cruise operation 100-110 kph.)

Engine mods are full FTP kit, turbo back exhaust, ftp panel filter, VRSF intercooler / downpipe and gfv dv+. Running BP 98 and penrite HPR5 5w-40.

Thanks!

Those temperatures are within the normal range. The car keeps the temperature higher when cruising for better fuel economy, lower when it detects acceleration to prevent pre-ignition. You're seeing it go up and down because it's supposed to do that.

Correct. In Eco-Pro mode on the highway, my car get all the way to almost the half-way mark (around 250° F I believe). This is indeed for fuel economy and I see it drop down to between 1/4 - 1/2 the temp gauge pretty quickly after getting off the highway.
