Wonder why factory fill is good for 3 years?!
Done in a known, clean environment I presume (plus everything it comes into contact with is new and clean).

I did question question the interval for the brake fluid change when I had my car serviced, and the explanation was that BMW put in brake fluid that will last for three years since they don't know how long the car will be sitting for before it is sold. As others have mentioned, the brake fluid countdown starts from the build date, not sold/registered date (when the warranty starts counting down).

Just checked build date and that might tie in with the warning.

Mine must have been built the month it was registered then.
