"new" comfort access..

Those that worried about normal keyless entry will have a melt down over this.. other manufacturers have had it for a while.

Now I am a big fan of keyless entry but I would still prefer to have the physical touch of a door handle to lock and unlock.

And yet - to my knowledge at least, there has been no major leap in plugging the relay attack.

It appears to be swept under carpet. My brother is quite senior in another large cat like organisation wrt onboard computer systems (related to "user" as opposed to engine based). He tells me the lack of interest in such things as vulnerability and threat management is amazingly poor.

So I am actually that anal that I detach fob from ket and place it in a metal box overnight (that box that has been tested by going close to car to ensure it's fully shielded), aka faraday cage. I love remote open, but I don't love the insecurity of it. Oh yeah, they can start the car too. With a rather amusing example ;-)

The exploitation of that vulnerability is really quite cool - and cheap! I hate criminals for doing that, but car manufactures for allowing such things ... :-/

This does seem a bit pointless as you still have to use the handle to open the door!

We have just bought a new Renault Kadjar for tge wife that has keyless entry. On the menu system you can turn it off so that you have to press a button to unlock the car....so I have turned it off. Also got a Defender shielding bag for the keys when at home just for good measure.

I hope you don't have a 10 year old or you'll probably find your keys get microwaved along with their hot chocolate...
