New X5 review

It’s a funny looking thing, but what a machine!

Who wants one?

Yeah it definitely doesn’t look as good as the RR sport, Cayenne or Q8!

I actually like the new X5 very sharp unlike previous models which were always bubbly and awful .

Porsche Cayenne would be first choice but would prefer over RR and Q8 .

Best looking X5 model so far

Looks will grow on you over time, same thing with F10 to G30. I do think the interior is a bit over the top though and probably better executed in the X3.

Tbh Lobb is right and the X3 is probably better suited to our roads, but can definitely see myself looking at this new X5 when I switch out of mine in 3 years as you do get used to the size and bigger is always better, right?

Lovely inside, ugly outside.

Not if you have to run it and pay for the repairs. my last one was horrendous, in & out of the dealers.

Mind you if you want an SUV that handles like a sports car .... Cayenne it is...

The RR Sport looks a lot better, but to me the Cayenne and Q8 are even uglier than the X5, which takes some doing. Looks like a superbly comfortable car though.

Love it. Want one. In a couple of years when someone else has taken the hit on depreciation.

They're starting to chrome too much of the interior now, it's all getting a bit MB bling inside.

Nice but I'd still rather have a RRS, they just ride like nothing else in the class

Trouble is the reliability. Or lack of it with RR products. A neighbour had a Velar. Drove him practically to tears of frustration with problems. After eight months he gave up.
Yeah my dad's discovery sport has had a raft of problems including having the heater replaced twice! The infotainment is crap too, he's using a standalone tom-tom device for navigation!

I think the back of it looks pretty nice.

I think the front would look much better with a smaller grille though, something like this...

Maybe not quite that small! Somewhere in the middle would be good

But this X5 has Air suspension available so you may be speaking too soon!! It is a pity no air sus option on X3 as that would make it more of a Macan fighter

Mine felt like a monster when I picked it up in April. It now actually feels a bit small. As you say, you do get used to it.

Agreed - for my daily I'm not sure I could go back to something like a 3er, get too used to the size and comfort.

That's fucking appalling!

You've actually made the new one look quite good in comparison.

I’m in the ‘like it’ camp. I like Audi for certain things but wouldn’t buy one, to me they’re a bit of a jelly mould shape. Porsche are great for build, driver appeal and name but look like an Allegro on stilts. Jaguar, again, good name and image but crap touchscreen system and mental servicing costs. Merc, nah. Range Rover... same reasons as Jag and would struggle to be without my car whilst it has frequent visits to the dealers for repairs.
