Cargo basket?

Anyone running a cargo basket on their f34?

Going on a road trip soon and I want to add some storage space. Pics are appreciated.

If I was going to use a carrier it would be one mounted in back of the car, not on top. The wind resistance of a top carrier seriously impacts highway handling and gas mileage. I'd get something like this:

The downside is you need a hitch, but with a top carrier you need bars, so that evens out.

Thanks for the input.

I’m considering mounting the basket over the rear hatch. With mounting point near the antenna to the rear spoiler.

Any thoughts on if it’s hazardous? Moving it from the top more towards the boot I’m trying to eliminate some of the drag but more so the wind noise from the front of the cabin.

I’m concerned that opening and closing of the hatch will affect the stability of my rack.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Im going for this setup but with a cargo basket. Haven’t found a bmw with it yet so not much data to pull from. Seen a bunch a Porsches and Ferraris with a bike mounted on the hatch.

My knowledge in physics is rudimentary at best.

Garage List
Bikes and skis mounted on a sloping hatch is one thing, but if you were to mount a cargo box or basket carrying boxes or luggage, that would generate some serious lift at the back. It would be better to mount that on the roof so that it would at least be horizontal and just generate drag. Again a streamlined cargo box would be the best set up.
