What do I need to get closest to M feel?
Need some suspension expert's advice here.
Just drove an M4 comp and really enjoyed the suspension. It wasn't harsh or brittle at all and had a real suppleness to it while being stiff around bends. My buddy has an M3 without comp and the ride felt harsher than the comp so this recent experience on a newer M really surprised me. Is it the shocks? Geometry? Sways? Mine's on Eibach Pro Kit springs and adaptive shocks. Question is, what's the top 1 or 2 things I need that would help achieve similar results WITHOUT actually buying an M!? |

Are you strictly talking about the ride quality? Quality tires to start. Springs and dampers or coilovers next. Those are the top contributors to ride quality.
If you also want to dial in the handling aspect, the aforementioned is a good start (and the most expensive parts). Then you can get into things like bushings, camber kits, and swaybars/endlinks. Do all of the above, and I think your suspension will be pretty well-sorted. Probably more than a majority of people need.

The adaptive shocks will have to replaced if substantial suspension behavior improvement is the goal. Coilovers with independently adjustable compression and rebound controls will provide the suspension tuning range you are looking for.
