N20 Random Misfire and Cylinder 2&3

So last Friday, I started my car during my lunch break, drove down the street and the check engine light came on. I haven't felt any symptoms yet but not sure since I haven't drove it much since then. I went to Autozone and used the scanner:

Error codes:
P0300 Random Misfire detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire detected
P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire detected

Autozone printed out the results as well as a solution, which is to replace ignition coils and spark plugs. I ordered the kit that includes delphi ignition coils and spark plugs and plan on replacing this Friday.

I get regular maintenance at BMW with my upgrade maintenance plan whenever the maintenance light comes on. They said that spark plugs are included in the plan. When I asked why spark plugs were never replaced if they were included they stated spark plugs aren't due until 100k miles. Currently almost at 62k. They quoted me $175 just to diagnose the misfire. My engine is stock and I don't have any coding done.

Besides replacing the ignition coils and spark plugs, anyone else have any recommendations? Really hoping when I replace the parts this weekend and reset the cel that the problem is fixed.

Strange... I wonder if 100k is normal for them... Mine got replaced at 30k and then I replaced them with NGK iridium plugs at about 77k..

Just install those and you should be fine. Report back if it doesn't fix it.

I second Bunkers reply.

Replace your plugs and maybe coils but get NGK plugs and you should be fine. Normal issue

That's good to hear! What plugs did you get? Same ones as before? I only ask because if you are planning to start modding and upping the boost, you will need a step or two colder plugs.

Okay, cool. It appears those plugs are LI plugs. http://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/1...64-MFG220.aspx

This part number lines up with the manufacturing number listed here: https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=40569

When you get them, check that SILZKBR8D8S appears on the plug itself.

Just curious what your plugs looked like? I replaced mine a few weeks ago at 67k miles and they looked good for the milage.

I replaced mine at about 78k miles, so they had just over 50k on them. Not as fouled, but similar. They honestly would've kept going, but I needed colder plugs and replaced them.

Jinx! My coils are starting to give out at 90k. I get hesitation under WOT and no CEL. Replaced the spark plugs and re-gapped to .020 on Saturday morning, misfires started on Thursday or Friday. Hoping it really is the coils and not the injectors.

I haven't done any actually. I thought about a tranny drain/fill, but the shop I go to (Run by two BMW master techs) hasn't told me I needed one yet, so here I am!

It's possible. They wouldn't let me go without something I need, so I trust them.
