Replacing Expanding Nuts? Post-Side Skirt Install

I recently curbed my passenger side skirt (M Sport + aero blade) leaving a tight coffee shop lot. I had a new OEM piece painted (thanks, iND), which I installed today with a new aero side splitter. Everything went fine, but in the final stages of reinstalling the ten or so securing pins (07147296886), some would not reinstall. I eventually figured out that a few of the old ones had broken inside the expanding nut (07149248255). I wasn't able to easily remove them.

So, I'm curious if anyone knows how easy it is to remove the existing expanding nuts? I doubt it's too bad, but it's one of those plastic parts I'm afraid will lead to more headaches than improvements.

Pertinent parts diagram (#14 and #15): https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8667

Thanks.

i took those expanding nuts off recently when i was installing new fenders on my car...
so i know what you are talking about
im almost sure you can use the smallest drill bit to slowly destroy the left over
plastic inside the hole...once you removed enough you should be able to pop the new
one in just fine...

Cool. Much appreciated! I'll give that a try.

The plastic trim tools with a fork-shaped end are good for many of those type of fasteners.

Thanks. Yeah, that's my planned approach if I do proceed with removal.
