ATM with or without gps? (NBT EVO retrofit)

Hi guys,

I have a 2018 F36 LCI with the 6,5" screen, no navigation and the EVO ID6 interface & Connected services (I can locate my cars parking position in the MyBMW app)

(I think it's called ENTRYNAV2 thus it has no navigation)

Looking to upgrade/retrofit full NBT EVO navigation. I know that newer units does not have GPS antenna port as they get the gps signal from the ATM module.

So far so good - but seem to get from other posts that not all ATM's have gps signal - that sometimes the gps is still n the HU itself.

If the ATM in my car does not gave gps, it seems I will not be able to retain the Connected services any longer, if I retrofit a new HU that uses external gps antenna.

Is there any way I can verify if my ATM has gps and thus would be plug&play with a new NBT EVO HU while retaining the Connected services?

I have NAV, and if I was to do it again today I wouldn't bother with it. Google maps on my phone is just as good, if not better, since I can easily click on any address on my laptop and instantly save it as a favorite on my phone.

I also do not care about the BMW nav - Just wanna have CarPlay with a good sound quality (and so i would use google maps on carlpay for navigation)

plenty of aftermarket boxes in that case, they are alot cheaper and work great if you only after carplay.

cwleth Did you find any solution? Please check the DM. I am in the same situation without Nagivation (6.5' EVO Id6, F31 2019) but want to have either CarPlay or Android Auto.

Connected Drive services like weather news and app will still work, but you will not get RTTI for the BMW NAV.
