I need to re-flash the evo again tonight. That software update thing is for the USB stick BT firmware updates.

The NBT Evo and ATM are coded with the donor vin.

With all due respect, I need a confirmation of the bold above.

Not what is coded. What is actually displayed at this exact position.

This is critical to troubleshoot an issue I am attempting to help someone with. I believe they have something coded wrong but need info from a working retrofit like yours to verify.

What you coded is not in dispute....just what shows.

I second IK6SPEED's question (I'm the person he's asking for), when you go into idrive settings, software version, software update, do you see the VIN number? And is it the VIN of the ATM/NBT or the car? It is blank for me and someone told me that this is because of the CAN filter I have installed.

When I did the retrofit I did not actually flash the NBT as it was already an ID6 version. I also did not change the VIN in the FA to the ATM donor VIN so I believe I need to VO code again but I'm wondering if I need to flash it as well.

@Nickco43 and sj22 have a KCAN filter as do you, so yours should display same as theirs if yours is coded correctly.

The ATM donor vin is on both my evo and the iphone app.

If you connected the atm to your car without a can filter or a with a different vin coded to the NBT Evo then the ATM will permanently disable itself.

As expected it's coded incorrectly.

The ATM is working as the SOS button is connecting, but clearly the HU is not coded correctly.

I did not connect the ATM without the can filter installed, I left the battery disconnected the entire time I was plugging everything in and the can filter never left the harness I have. GPS and navigation work so I don't think I bricked the ATM. I changed the VIN in the HU using FSC extended in e-sys, but I'm still not sure if I need to actually flash the HU with the ATM VIN in the FA, or if VO coding is enough. I'm going to try VO coding again this afternoon and if that doesn't work I'll try flashing it tomorrow.

Update: I went back and changed the VIN in my FA to the VIN of the ATM and then VO coded NBT2 again. After that I went to the connecteddrive website and added the ATM VIN, within a minute or two the car had received the confirmation code! I entered the security code into the website and voila, successfully registered! All the info and services work on my phone now, location, lock/unlock, fuel/range etc. No flashing necessary.

It's worth pointing out that in my idrive software version settings I still do not see the VIN but all ConnectedDrive features are working 100% now.

Map updates and services are good through 2021, fucking sweet! Thanks IK6SPEED for the fresh ATM

Does Your connected app works? I've retrofitted Nbt Evo with ATM in my 2014 F31. Navi and online services works perfectly but have some issues with app. Sending destinations works also, but checking status of car localization and doors/windows works only while I'm opening or closing car. Also app on iPhone can't connect with car via BT or USB (can't see bmw calendar or bmw app on idrive, but 3rd party apps like Spotify works without issue, also don't see any disclaimer on bmw connected app). On the other hand android phone with connected app works with drive but can not recognize my car. I think its because of blank VIN in menu media update.
Can it be because of can filter installed or maybe I need to flash unit with new VIN? So far I only did VO coding with donor Vin and change it inf Fsc extended menu in Esys. Or maybe is it because I've generated FSC codes with short vin instead long? Any thoughts?

In my case I did not flash the headunit (came from a 2019 car), I only VO coded it with the donor ATM VIN.

Yes the VIN is blank in software update, and yes all my connecteddrive functions work. All the online apps in idrive (weather, rtti etc) plus the phone app connects to the car.

I can send destinations fron phone to car online. The only issue is I cant connect my car and connected app via usb cable or Bluetooth. Spotify and other apps works perfect only bmw connected app. I would like to make it work so I could use connected plus package like share trip status.

It's possible EU cars Connected Drive might be slightly different than USA.

Considering the problems I see in forums on Connected Drive and EU especially, nothing would surprise me.

I think it is matter of coding. The same phone connects right away with g01 x3 with id6 factory fitted and see care vin number. So I think it has to be something with missing vin in media or something. I need to try flash both atm and evo to same ilevel with atm vin and see what happend.

As I said in my post, code HMI_VERSION to "id5" (id4_plus_plus and id5 were the only options), then code HMI_ID_VERSION to "id6_lite". My understanding is that the F3x series NBT Evo headunits don't work with id6, even with HW 4.1 you get that weird UI crashing behavior. From what I've heard from others the G30 NBT Evo headunits can do id6, although there is no difference in functionality or looks between id6 or id6_lite.
