#ProjectKatniss: AW M-Sport F30 335i

BMS Stage 1
Alright so bone stock (2013 BMW 335i M-Sport 8AT) we did a baseline dyno run on DynoJet @ EAS in Anaheim CA two weeks ago. Put down ~277whp/297tq without any mods whatsoever.

Today I had them install the BMS Stage 1, the best run was ~295whp/339tq. The 'butt dyno' feel you all are getting on your Stage 1 is definitely a direct result of the TQ increase. I'll post up the actual dyno charts once I get them sent electronically or I'll scan what I have in.

Dyno video

Macht Schnell 15mm wheel spacers on BMW 403M 19" wheels
On a side note, threw some Macht Schnell 15mm spacers on while I was EAS so you can see what they look like on 403M wheels and stock suspension. 10mm were out-of-stock so I wasn't able to do the front just yet.

Before

After. Please bear in mind that this was right after putting it back on the ground and is at stock M-Sport suspension height. With a slight drop and/or settling it will camber in a bit.

iND Front Painted Reflectors
Then, as soon as I get home from EAS today my front reflectors arrived so I threw those on real quick. (I know. You've seen one, you've seen 'em all)

Pretty much. Downpipe and Stage 2 are in the near future. I need to do suspension and wheels next though. I put spacers on to hold me over for a bit so that I can just do suspension next.

My guess is 91 octane. 93 octane and the extra psi would get you another 8-9whp.

I envy your 295whp/339wtq with just the BMS Stage 1!! I'm at about 285whp/315wtq with my Stage 2 and 93oct

His numbers are on a dynojet. If yours are from a Mustang or SuperFlo, they run lower.

Yeah I think he has a 328i. Which makes the difference here.

I wasn't really considering a 328i when I walked on the lot, but drove one for comparison. Power and exhaust sound difference sold me and left with the 335i.

Seeing Adam from the M3 boards there again today putting down 500whp+ all day is very humbling though. Lol

I moan and groan daily about not getting the 335, oh well I guess, was trying to be financially responsible at the time, ugh. Hopefully in 2-2.5yrs the M2 will be out so I can just switch over to that and call it a day

Thanks for posting! Would love to see a dyno graph with both dynos overlaid on top of one another. Only 18rwhp at peak isn't a surprise as Terry's stage 1 program tapers off boost up top.

Out of curiosity, were weather conditions very similar on both dyno days?

That's about what mine "feels" like, I just need to head Ivey Tuning to compare to my Evo VIII, where I put down about the same (300/320awtq)....my BMW feels faster than the Evo up top, and definitely more stable, but down load, from the dig, the Evo had a bit more grunt because of the awd. I DO need to launch without DSC though...

Even though comparing peak dyno numbers and nothing more from cars dynoing at different places, in different conditions etc....

To make it somewhat more comparable, you guys posting dyno numbers should include (if possible)
  • Dyno Graphs
  • Correction factor (none, STD, SAE, etc)
  • Dyno type
  • Weather conditions (temp, humidity, etc)
  • Other mods
  • Other relevant info like big 20" heavy wheels, auto vs. manual tranny, etc.

Anyone know if I can just mix some 100 in with my 91 or is that going to destroy my cats?

I've run 100 unleaded mixes numerous times and my emissions equipment is working perfectly fine. I think leaded race gas is what messes up the catalytic converters...

As long as it is not leaded race gas, you should be fine. I would do a bit more research though before you pull the trigger...just for peace of mind

Considering you have 30% less displacement, your numbers for a 2.0 are pretty solid lol.

For some reason, on my Ipad, your info made it seem like you had a stage 2 N55-hence my Mustang vs Dynojet comment.

Jameson looking at your signature, your roadster must be nuts with that kind of power! What does it weigh?

Thank you.

It's heavier than it looks thanks to a power top, heated power seats and all the other power options you get in a modern car. It's about 3000lbs. But it's still a pretty solid power to weight ratio, traps about 120mph in the 1/4 when everything is dialed in which I am working on at the moment.
