Carly
I see a lot of negative Amazon reviews for the Carly downloaded/coder. Mostly connection problems. Some of those reviews are pretty old. I wonder if they've improved them any. I want be able to do battery registration for any comparable battery. I don't see any others able to do that. Anybody using a newer Carly? Problems?

Using/used Carly. i say used because once I coded the few things I wanted done I haven’t used it since. So for my needs it was fine. No connection issues.
Read or post in the coding section and you will likely get more feedback |

@ooshnoo I have BimmerCode, but it's very limited for battery registration. Should I choose a battery not identical to the old one, it will not register it. Thanks!

It's a subscription thing, correct?

I used Carly dozens of times on my car, and few times on friends F10. Once or twice I had a connection issue - something like unstable (Bluetooth) connection and Carly refused to work.
Complained and I was suggested to close all apps from memory and to activate airplane mode before opening Carly, and since doing this way, never had a issue with unstable connection (although used only few times since, so cannot yet be 100% sure this solves the connection issue). |

No, not a subscription. Just another $31.99 in addition to the $31.99 for the BimmerCode app!

Have been using Carly on the F32 for a couple of years now before it became subscription based. So I was grandfathered in and do not pay a yearly fee and I get all updates.
I find Carly pretty easy to use and I hook it up every couple of months as they suggest to see any codes etc.. I also have purchased the Bimmercode app so I could code a couple of things in that Carly could not. Bimmercode is more granular and can be a bit more intimidating if you are not into details on what needs to be done. All in all I like them both. |

Well, Bimmercode won't do a dissimilar battery registration. Carly will, on some BMWs, but it's not an option for the f30. I guess I'll just have to purchase OEM batteries. I already have a Foxwell ND 510 and BimmerCode. Guess I'll just stick with those. Thanks for all the help!

I want to know if AAA can install and register BMW batteries. I guess I can just ask them. They should be able to match or beat pep boys and come with some sort of guarantee, like a 3 year free replacement and pro rated after that warranty.
