Sounds like the engine or transmission have been tuned. If you're out of warranty anyway it won't really affect anything on that end, but i'd probably want to know what tune(s) are on the vehicle to make sure the car has necessary modifications to support it. It would have been easy for the previous owner to uninstall parts (downpipe, intake, intercooler, etc.) before selling the car, but not uninstalling the tune(s).

It's saying your vehicle has been tuned, most likely. Even if the previous owner flashed back to stock BMW can still detect it.
