Bilstein have a v good rep and no doubt have taken their time to develop these PnP products.
I'd imagine B6 damptronic would be night and day better than OEM adaptive. I'm just glad that there's now a viable non-OEM alternative in the event of my shocks needing to be replaced [more probable given that I'm running lowered springs] that will retain functionality, be cheaper and better suited to the aftermarket springs.

According to Bilstein, the lowering range is 30mm-50mm front and rear. It would be ideal to have the option to at least maintain OEM suspension height.

More EDC options, very cool. Though it seems like no coils for xDrive as of now. And it's not totally clear, are there adjustable modes you can select with the OEM sport/comfort switch on these? Or an added switch? It doesn't specify that, only mention of anything like that is ridecontrol mode on the B16 coils.

In a few months, when I run out of warranty, it will be time to decide. KW dcc p'n'p or B16 Bilstein Damp Tronic
40-65 / 30-60 or 30-50 / 30-50 Which will be softer ??? Bilstein should be, no?

"In addition to the already available products for models without adaptive shock absorbers, vehicles with standard EDC are then also covered by the new DampTronic variants. In contrast to the competition, BILSTEIN will offer a complete portfolio of components for 1 Series to 4 Series vehicles. Plug-and-play makes installation easy." DampTronic® BILSTEIN Damptronic® is an active damping system that integrates seamlessly with the OEM electronics on your car. As a Plug & Play solution it works perfectly with any factory-fitted adjustment systems, off ering peerless driving dynamics. In-built sensors monitor vibrations and movement, immediately relaying dynamic information to your car’s ECU – and then instantaneously through to each damper, adjusting it to your driving situation. Whether you’re flat-out on track or cruising the highway, you will always have optimum traction, stability and safety. The OEM switch remain functional. If not, what would be the difference from the Ride Control

With lowering springs the most appropriate would be the B8 DampTronic http://www.bilstein.de/en/products/h...damptronicreg/

Not so b4 are oem standard replacement.
B6 DT is the way to go for lowered springs up to 30mm drop.

Definitely interested in this. Pretty awesome that you'll be able to control different modes with the stock switch. Was going to go with the b14s and code out my adaptive but if this works seamlessly with the stock system then that's great.

Oh man, why no b16s for xdrive for pnp with the adaptive suspension?
I have been looking for a way to drop my wagon by like 20-25mm. Just so it is roughly the same as an rwd car with OEM sport suspention. I didn't really want to do just springs for wearing out the dampers. Maybe the b6 and springs would get me there. But it seems like most springs give way more than .8 to 1 inch drop for xdrive and would put them over the 30mm drop for the b6s |

and it would retain the factory EDC for us Xdrive guys that have adaptive. With BMW making so many cars xdrive now you would think the aftermarket would start catering to xdrive cars equally.
