B48 330i OEM Exhaust Upgrades

Dears,

My current ride is the 2016 LCI 330i

it sounds smoother and way nicer than my previous 320i and my friend's 328i (both were N20) >>> Yet I'm looking for an Exhaust Upgrade and the M-Performance cost is as high as other non OEM,

What are the options and the best mod available (DP only or Rear Muffler only or Both, or even a Full Exhaust) ... what do you guys recommend.

Thanks

Midpipe + exhaust
If your emissions are lax in Egypt and you dont care about your countrymen since they smoke a pack an hour anyway.. downpipe as well

I am using FI exhaust, an expensive choice but I highly recommend!

Thanks,

I have been to FI website, no price listing ...

the Armytrix full system Stainless Steel with all the option is really expensive it's like $3.5k

Get yourself a 340i muffler and have it fitted by a shop (or adjust it yourself). I have the same muffler (although internally modified) and the sound is pretty impressive. I'm now looking at a cat-less DP or a non-res front pipe to complete the setup. Pretty cheap solution and give roughly the same result as most aftermarket systems. Not downplaying these at all!

I would post some video but I don't have the proper equipment. I'll see if I can get some cellphone quality video once the weather clears up.

That's a great idea, and as you've said not as expensive as most aftermarket systems ..

I will be looking at this ... if you've a sound clip or video this will be nice

thanks GregD

get a catless downpipe, you will love the sound.

alternatively, I recommend upgrading your muffler borla, remus, etc.

Here's a quick clip my spouse took, quality is not that great but it gives a good impression of how it sounds.
Next up is mid-pipe.

The midpipe replaces the resonator for this car right?

I'd probably leave that alone. Go For a downpipe

The B48 Exhaust does sound better than the N20, due likely to being in the same family as the B58, though the N55 had a decent sounding stock exhaust as well.

They're good sounding 4 cylinder engines both of
Them, but I wouldn't say it's a good sounding engine for a company that built its reputation off inline 6's.

I myself have a 340i muffler with 340i CAT and I think it sounds awesome on my 330i. I like it much better than the MPE for 330i. It is something I really would recommend!

This is great,
The B48 itself sounds much better than the N20, it's just needs a better exhaust ... the 340i muffler seems the best option for me to go with ...

Does the 340i cat fit without any modification? I assume you have an aftermarket cat (catless?), if OEM it would surprise me you have any gains in power and minimal in sound?
On the other side, you maintain the sensors and no CEL which is a huge benefit.

DP was planned but both would be a bit too much I guess. Res delete would add drone, which is currently non existent. Keepijg the resonator combined with DP would only slightly increase sound.

sound levels will be similar when cruising, but noticeably louder when you accelerate aggressively.

if you want more sound with the downpipe, I suggest a new muffler. but it is best to leave your resonator alone.

Anyone in LA who has done his mod to the B48 (I.e 330i 2016/17 engine) mind meeting me some time so I can hear it in person? If you are going to a UDE or bimmerfest lmk!!

I don't think there are any gains in power, but the sound is clearly better, deeper. And yes, it is stock cat from 340i, it just needed some welding, other than that it was a perfect fit for my car.

I would post some video but I don't have the proper equipment. I'll see if I can get some cellphone quality video once the weather clears up.
I have the opportunity to get a 440i muffler from someone upgrading it.
I would want to understand how difficult it is to fit it on my 430i.

I have gone to ETK, did P/N checking and graphic overlays.
The fitting (except diffuser) seems to necessitate a diameter change from 65mm between front silencer to 80mm for 440i muffler.

Please, can you give me information or link to parts on how you achieved this conversion ?
Is connection tube really shorter ?
How have you preserved (13) / (14) fixing point on 430i ?

If you bought the muffler from someone upgrading to an aftermarket muffler, they should have cut it near the dimple. Cut your own exhaust at the same place, taking into account some extra room for the adapter piece. I had one made fairly cheap, and fitted it myself with clamps on both ends. Only tools needed is a good pipe cutting tool. Install took me less than 1 hour.
No need to transfer the vibration rubber IMO.
