Eibach pro-kit fitted to my F31 x-drive

As the title says, I got the pro-kit fitted to my x-drive F31 335d and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement.

I found a firm in Gloucester ( I live in the UK ) called Turner Race Developments which is run by a couple of brothers, Jamie and Dan who are both nice people and real enthusiasts, and they quoted me a good price for supply, fitment and alignment so off I went.

They were waiting for me, confirmed everything was ready, had a chat with me about the car and what I was looking to achieve and then got started while I went off for a walk and some lunch with 'she-who-must-be-obeyed'.

A few hours later I returned to find the work done and the car looking massively improved aesthetically from the get-go…..they really should come like this from the factory!! Jamie had adjusted the alignment to help with turn in when pressing on and had even aligned all the wheel centre caps ( that's the kind of attention to detail I like ) off his own back as he wanted it all to look right.

After the drive home, I was smiling like a Cheshire cat as the primary ride was actually better than standard which I really wasn't expecting, while the whole car is so much better tied down when you push on ( only in order to test it properly officer ).

The kit absolutely transforms the car and does exactly what I was hoping for, and as an extra bonus I have found a company that I will trust to do all the work I want to do on my car in the future.

If you're able to get to Gloucester then I can't recommend these guys highly enough, and their knowledge and experience of all aspects of either making the car OEM+ or going to the extreme is vast.

Pictures below show standard first, followed by the car after fitting the kit, and if anyone is debating whether to do this or not, as I was for ages, DO IT !!

The car looks great. It looks like the drop is perfectly even and just the right amount for that OEM+ look; enough to look great but not so much where it looks modified to the average person. I got eibach's recently as well and loving them so far. Did you replace the bump stops or anything else when you had the springs put in?

Thanks Danarino……yes, that's exactly what I wanted…those who know, know and those that don't, don't 😎

When they fitted them they automatically cut down the bump stops for me ( without me needing to ask ) but I'm told you could go without getting this done on the Eibach's as the drop is pretty mild.

Nothing else was needed though.

Awesome. That's how I'd like my 335d F31 xDrive to look. Now, I've seen Eibach states two versions of their Pro-kit in their catalogue online. Which one did you use?

E10-20-031-16-22 or E10-20-031-17-22?

I used the 16 kit as I don’t have the adaptive suspension so my max front axle load is 1075kg….the other kit is for max front axle load of 1095kg ( the rears are the same in both kits ) so check your sticker and you should be good to go 😉

Interesting.. I do have the adaptive suspension and my front axle is rated at 1060, rear 1255. But, your car has exactly the ride height I'm looking for, thanks!

What's your verdict after two weeks of driving? How's the comfort in town, on bad roads (slow and faster) and motorways? Not looking for a crashy experience.

Absolutely love it…..ride is actually better than standard with the bonus of less pitch and roll when pushing on. Perfect around town ( definitely not crashy ) and on only a couple of occasions on the motorway I have been aware it is obviously more stiffly sprung, but I’m being really picky and then only on ‘bouncy’ road sections where the OE suspension would have felt the same.
No regrets at all, and as you say the drop is perfect to my eyes……it doesn’t even catch the front splitter on sleeping policemen!!

Thanks mate. I will order the -16 Eibach springs and the SWP (bad weather package) adapters today. That should give an approx. 30mm drop in front and 8mm on the rear. As I drive 90% on German autobahns, with the boot sometimes full, I think an 8mm drop in the rear would be sufficient. Also, I don't mind a slightly forward rake, it's definitely much better than a rearwards rake like the E90's and E46's I had. I'll let you know.

Glad I could help, and if you’re like me you had a little ‘phew’ to yourself once it was done and it was ok 😁….👍

Oh yes, as you mentioned as well, the 335d drives like a 335d should. A bit firmer, but still comfortable and very very good (and a lot improved) high speed characteristics. I don't have the floaty feel anymore on higher speeds on the German Autobahn. I got the bad weather package adapter on the rear, so rear drops is only 8mm. Front height from center cap to fender is 358mm and rear is 367, with a nearly empty tank and empty boot. Both full will level the car out and I won't lose suspension travel or have a "itchy back" when driving loaded.

Some threads mentioned that the drop in the front could damage the front CV axle.
It has been 2 years, have you found any issue with the axle?

No problem at all here…still looks perfect, rides beautiful and handles like it should have done from the factory…..I think you need a drop of 2 inches or more to run into issues and the Eibach are about 20mm so all good and they are designed to work with the standard hardware anyway 😎👍

Garage List
I’ve had the same setup since April 2021 and around 40k km. No issues at all.

I’m going to install Koni SA struts and shocks soon, the oem dampers feel like they are on the way out.

So you fitted the pro kit on stock shocks? I want thinking of doing the same upgrade but i am afraid of the stiff ride afterwards. Also did your car had the m sport suspension as standard?

Yes….the pro kit is designed to run with the stock shocks. Some say it feels a bit bouncy but that may be on pre-lci cars because mine is a 2018 and has never felt anything other than great, and after 10,000 miles on them ( car has now done just over 60,000 total ) it still feels fine.
The ride is better than standard if anything and got even better when I changed to go-flats.
