imo, i'd work on getting an extra parking spot, buying an EV or around town car. I wouldn't want either as my only car.

then level up your "toy"

you'll probably end up saving gas/depreciation/wear/etc

You might want to try AUTO just once then and turn the dial to see if that (AUTO) makes a difference. It should. By the way, the display of temperature setting in degrees when manual mode is selected should be misleading: it's unlikely they bother to let you set the blowing air's temperature precisely, just warmer or colder.

An expenses optimizer (I guess). They count everything, buttons included: BMW have a "maximum cooling effect" button in my model's (not my car's) climate control, but no SYNC button you can see in the video above.

They simplify it (no more digits!). It would be impolite to make assumptions about your education. They say bushmen know only one and many ("The Gods Must Be Crazy" film, I believe). They (who sell a car to you) want to count your money for you, for your ultimate convenience. Don't be a smart ass and do it yourself!

Both manual and AUTO are driven by cabin temp, you have no control in all three cars of the actual air temp. AUTO simply controls every aspect, so the vents used, when to escalate the fan etc but air temp control is not possible.

I have not driven a later model year R8, but I have driven a couple GT3s (one was an RS). While rad to the max, I think I'd pull what's left of my hair out if I "had" to drive the GT3 each day. It's just too hardcore for the intended purpose. The fit and finish and materials and, and, and... are just phenomenal. But as I mentioned before, it's a flipping race car that gets number plates. I need a cupholder for my morning coffee. I don't need theatre to get to the office every day.

But my scenario is likely quite a bit different in that when I do go into the office I'm spending over an hour one way (took me about two hours to get home yesterday in fact). Hell, I get annoyed driving my "do everything" M3 to the office on the rare occasion being stuck in traffic with a no-low-end-torque three pedaled machine. If it's an infrequent trip to the office that can be turned into fun, why not?

Something for me to take up to the mountains on the weekend for a rip and a bite? I'll take two please.

OP lives in downtown Toronto too which is nothing short of a hellscape, arguably the worst traffic and roads in the civilised world.

I have owned a couple of GT3s, and for me, the 911 is the more enjoyable Volkswagen of the two . the GT3 needs to be revved out at least once a day, and it’s definitely the more thrilling car to drive. The 992 rack is very quick, night and day to the 991 rack. Its has super small turning radius especially the RS. It’s hilarious how fast you can change lanes; you can move across three lanes in no time. I think the R8 is cool, but is a (very capable) Audi when the sun goes down. Imo OP you have to both as much as possible.

I've never found that Toronto roads are any worse than the roads people in Midwest cities deal with. Same issues. Harsh winters, salted roads, hot summers, etc. is hell on roads. In the Midwest, we also have lots of clayey soils which shrink and swell with moisture/lack of moisture and it can cause some pretty impressive pavement heaves. Michigan roads are impressive for that.

Sounds like Atlanta traffic. I lived 12 miles from my office. It was one hour each way if I left the house at 615 and left the office by 350. If I left any later, then it was another 20+ minutes. Throw in a wreck, another 45+ minutes. No construction. Just a normal day in ATL. Decent roads though.

Wrong crowd. Try posting on rennlist in the 992 GT3 section.

First google hit: https://rennlist.com/forums/992-turb...xperience.html

Second, third and fourth google hits are also what you are looking for.

I have asked somewhat similar questions on both rennlist and r8 forums but I was hoping to tap into this forum as perhaps a more neutral landscape

On average, this site is likely less endowed than the others. Exceptions are always the rule.

The Graziano DCT in the R8 is one of the best transmissions that I've ever had in a car. The ZF8 sucks ass (for similar applications).

Roads are good (if not under construction) due to lack of any real winter. They really do a good job maintaining in the metro areas. I've got a 100+ mile round trip for when I actually do head into the office. The highways rarely are the "big" hold up. Sure there is congestion and the rubber necking of a police car that pulled someone over, but the killer is the surface streets. Hardly anywhere can absorb the volume with no real option to create new roads or widen what exists. Gotta get out to the sticks like me!
