Question BMW performance exhaust vs. aftermarket exhaust

First time BMW owner here, wanting to hear your thoughts...

So, which is better? BMW performance exhaust or aftermarket exhaust?

Pros and Cons?

Why one over the other?

THanks guys

Have done BMW performance exhaust on current car and last 335i. Why? Dealer installed at new car delivery. Just easier. Have heard YouTube clips of aftermaket exhaust and some sound better, some not, than the BMW M-Performance exhaust. So it kinda works for me.

this...

at the end of the day, some aftermarkets will be louder (and may drone), and deeper. They may give you marginal HP gains too (5-10hp). But, for me, the M Performance look great, can be had for a decent price, and won't run the potential of having warranty issues.

I got the performance exhaust as a Port installed accessory. they will put it on that the port after it arrives on the boat. Never heard it before but i figured what the hell, they are rolling it into my lease and 400 bucks gets residualized. installed its 1375(975 into my lease)

I just hope it's louder than stock.

I just wish there were some good youtube clips of F30 performance exhaust.

It's pouring outside now (background noise) so want to keep her dry, but here's 2 sound clips of mine. Apologies for the poor sound quality. There's only so much a Blackberry will do. But I love the exhaust!!!

Nice!!! Sounds great, especially on start up. That's with the flap fixed to the open position, correct?

Sounds really good and i bet it sounds amazing in person.

Yup, wired like I showed you in a different thread. Always open on the drivers side exhaust. Not sure why BMW just doesn't leave it wide open all the time and save the extra electronics but I guess that makes it more fun for us to find the workaround.
I love driving around, radio off, windows open and just listening to the car.......

You won't be disappointed! I ran my last 335i with the BMW performance exhaust and I wouldn't have picked up the new car without it either. Enjoy the new ride!!

While no one is doubting the quality of the BMW performance exhaust, to say that it trumps all is not even close to an accurate statement.

There are other brands out there that offer lighter overall products, that are made with the same, if not better quality than the BMW performance exhaust (See Eisenmann/Akrapovic).

Sound is completely subjective, so long as it doesn't sound like a Civic with a fart can, different systems have their merits and their pitfalls.

If you download RealPlayer, it will play. The stupid Blackberry is very limited in audio and video options. Sorry.

Thanks for the clips. Helps confirm what justinnum1 forced on me. Currently driving a Pontiac Grand Prix with a V8 and Magnaflow exhaust (stock mufflers rotted, aftermarket was cheaper and better) that sounds pretty nice. Unfortunately it drones a lot. Looking forward to a nice sounding exhaust that works well when not blasting music with passengers in the car.

What differences does the "golf tee mod" make with the new performance exhaust? Just more idle bad-assness, or does it extend past idle? I need to determine if I want to bother with it.

some have said it makes a nice difference, i will probably keep my performance exhuast stock for the first 800 miles while i take it easy(or as easy as i can on the engine) then do the mod(which even tho people say its simple will probably be difficult for me lol) and enjoy the sound

others that own it and have done it can speak to it better than myself.
