Awesome to finally see Ferrari back in form!
And happy to see Magnussen stepping up - 2 weeks ago he was on a beach in Miami thinking his F1 career was over. Those Haas cars look fast!

I just made the mistake of venturing into the "professional motorsport" area of the forums... It's like some awful version of hell where everybody is desperately trying to outdo each other with their "knowledge" and "insight"... All using the rather daft acronyms that F1 has adopted as its "lingo" (even if you are within F1, it sounds twee)... I looks like a bear pit to get involved with...

Predictions for Saudi this weekend? The RB looked quick in a straight line so might favour them over Ferrari….
Can't see Merc making any progress until they make a few new parts and get on top of the issues.

Ferrari seem up on RB in sectors 1 and 3, which is about the handling rather than the straight line speed, I believe... Especially sector 1... which makes me wonder if Ferrari have the best engine and so can run more downforce (wing) overall than RB... and power through the drag... These cars appear to have fine margins... Ach, surely you cannot be happy about the misfortunes of a driver like LH..? I mean, I get that folk may not be fans etc, but he's way good enough to put any car on pole if it is capable of being anywhere near pole... and we can all at least respect his talent...

Verstappen appear to have overtaken Horner as the world's biggest whinger. He moans at his team, he moans about every driver on the track.

Interesting race though - exciting racing this year the cars do seem to be able to follow and race more cleanly. Great battle inbetween Ocon and Alonso - thought it was going to end in tears!

Also in Max's defence he has actually in the first two races raced people fair and clean - certainly so far none of the crazy stuff from last year.

Also I think Max's driving style was even more pronounced last season because of the intensity of the battle, the opportunity he faced, the ferocious competition in Hamilton and Mercedes and the fact that ultimately, Merc had a better car, certainly for the second half of the season. No doubt, these cars are a far far better platform and I'm looking forward to the day we can say goodbye to the 'push to pass' drs that was always a sticking plaster over a fundamental issue.

Absolutely respect his talent and his racing abilities. It's also OK not to like him as a person

I have never met him so couldnt comment on him as a person, and of course no one would form an opinion of someone as a person based on what the media say.... would they?

I have taken on the moto of 'anyone but Max'. So let's hope Ferrari continue their climb and build a sizeable lead or better still Perez beats Max.

I get that some folk don't seem to like him and/or his team... and, of course, that's their prerogative... but I think there is a difference between disliking what little you see of somebody's personality in these sorts of environments, and then taking some form of pleasure from their misfortune (as some seem to do - and I am not suggesting the original post I responded to here was so doing...)... Reading some of the sheer hatred and vitriol that is posted freely about somebody like LH it seems that some people do take a delight in his misfortune and do seem to think that he should somehow fit into how they think he should be as a person, rather than be the person whom he wants to be... and I think that is a rather sad state of affairs... ... and that's not even factoring in the racist element of some of his detractors...

Makes me wonder how much of what went in pervious years was down to the "one shot" nature of overtaking that the last regulations ended up presenting... Having to drop back after a lap or so following because you were overheating meant that if you did not get it done that first time, you may not get the opportunity again... Now we are seeing the battles unfold over 3, 4, 5, more laps... Watching Max work out how to pass Leclerc yesterday was really quite interesting... and he did the job well...

This is one of the things creeping in that I don't like... this kind of Netflix desire to create everything into some sort of polarised confrontation... it is unnecessary, and lazy sensationalism...

Agree - helmet cam is really interesting. Visibility for the driver much reduced with the larger wheels now. Gives you a real insight into how difficult it must be to drive these cars at speed.

Las Vegas has been announced for the F1 calendar from 2023. The circuit layout looks very simplistic and, no surprises, using 'the strip' so that so that the casino hotels benefit.
Some street circuits have a decent level of technical challenge, Monaco being a great example, but the Vegas layout just looks boring to me.
