$256 - Chrome tips P/N 18-30-2-354-364
$508 – Tailpipe end cover P/N 18-30-2-354-364

Says after all is said and done, it will be close to $4,000. That seems steep for this upgrade.
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/56...-AND-SOUND-KIT The 508 price should actually be PN 18302355889 and you could choose that over the 256 Chrome tips. So ~3300 MSRP + installation or ~3000 MSRP + installation. The installation shouldn't be costing 700-1000 though.

This is getting expensive.
There is only one part number (11 12 2 408 981) for all F3x variations sDrive/xDrive/Auto/6MT

Getbmwparts has the kit for $2,495:

I was going to mention this, getbmwparts has it for $2,495 plus $95 for each stainless steel finisher ($230 for carbon). Shipping for me to Kentucky is ~$70 with no tax, but their twitter says free shipping right now. (twitter link goes here: https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462)

I emailed my service advisor to see what his prices are. I bet he comes in higher than getbmwparts so I'll ask him what his ECU install price is. I'm pretty sure I can swap the exhaust as it doesn't involve welding, right? If so, this might get us around $2850 with self exhaust install and 1-2 hour ecu quote time from getbmwparts.com.

All I know is that, I'm going to call the local dyno place, get my car dyno'd before the install and then after. I'm curious what the increases really are considering what the dynos say about the B58 (clearly underrated)

Is the ECU available by itself, without the exhaust?

No, based on the first post it's required.

There's two ways to increase power - intake more air, or reduce back pressure allowing for faster air exit. With the previous MPPK (for the N55 engine) we went the route of more air intake, but for the 340i (B58 engine) we modified the the exhaust system to reduce back pressure and allow the air to exit the car faster, which together with the modified ECU, results in more power.

Please post up your before/after dyno results when your done! I'm convinced these numbers are underrated also.

I will say, M3 is nice and all, but they don't offer an AWD version. And an M3 is more than $10k more than the 340. This option is somewhat of a middle ground - not as much power as the M3, but not as much cost either. Plus you can get this on an xDrive. If I was getting a weekend car, M3 would be awesome, but as my daily driver, in snow country, I wanted something AWD, and the current S4 just does nothing for me.

SNOW TIRES. My wife and I had an adventure testing her 535xi against my 550i w/blizzaks. Hands down my 550i stopped far shorter than hers and did not slip n slide like hers. She couldn't believe it nor could I. Snow tires are much safer in poor conditions. We drove in 8 inches of snow for the test. Needless to say she took my 550i from then on...

You're aware that AWD doesn't make a car stop better right?

I was quoted right around $3,300 before tax for parts and labor, with stainless tips. Seems steep for sure.... around 6% of the cost of the car. Does anyone remember what pricing was like for MPPK on N55 when it first came out and if it dropped at some point?

So if we are approaching $4,000 for this bump, we really need to start talking about what we can expect out of the upcoming M340. As others have said, the M3 starts looking good, but living in Colorado, I would prefer an xDrive platform.

...but I want to go faster...

If an M3 was awd, then yes but I optioned an M3 and it was $16k more, that's without the competition package which I would want, add $4k more. And I wouldnt have gotten the same discount from the dealer. Even with the $3,300 exhaust your still talking $14k or over $200 a month for 60 months.

Did you dealer mention anything about you being xDrive? My dealer is telling me the kit that is out is not compatible with xDrive. I initially told them they are wrong based on some of the links in this thread, but they showed me a printout from their parts system and when they enter my VIN the system says the xDrive B58 MPPSK is part # 11122444531, same as posted above. And that the xDrive kit is not currently available.

Frustrating that there seems to be mixed info out there.

Jason, any official word on if the kit that is available is compatible with the xDrives?

Edit: Here is some more info, I'll leave it to the board to help interpret. When I put part # 11122444531 into realoem it comes up as superseding the part # given in the announcement at the top of this thread (11122408981). Both seem to cover RWD and xDrive iterations of the B58, but the original part number (11122408981) is listed as "11/1/15 to . . . . " while the other part number (11122444531) is listed as "12/16/15 to . . . . . " So maybe the distinction between the two is not xDrive vs. RWD but rather build date? Maybe if you have a later build date (mine is March '16) you need to use the newer part number, and that's not available yet? I am awaiting more answers but that's my best guess at this point. Still hoping it's just a mixup and the have lots of the kits ready-to-go for everyone.

Not that this is definitive, but for grins I did just put an xDrive 340i sedan as my current model in shopbmwusa.com and it did still pull up the tune.

Yup I did that as well. It is seeming like there is no xDrive vs. RWD distinction. But maybe a build date distinction that some dealers are confusing with a drivetrain distinction? I'm really not sure at this point.

Yeah, annoying. This makes me trust a dealer install a little less, too. I think I'll let the dust settle a bit. Definitely interested in the before/after dyno numbers, too.

Any idea what the warranty implications are if you buy the parts yourself and have them installed by a non-BMW shop?

Is this even possible? Obviously an exhaust install is no big deal but what about the software update?
