Considering I just picked up the '18 it's gonna be awhile. I'm sure they'll change the lineups a number of times between now and when the extended warranty runs out (which is trade-in time).

The 5 series just isn't my thing. 6 and 7 series the fun is in the backseat. 8 series is a coupe, also not my thing. The 3 series is just a tad small for my liking. I wonder would they do an individual ordered GT after production stops for under 250k

Look at the wall, there's handwriting on it. Anyway, there will still be something from BMW with a long wheelbase and good rear legroom. The 3GT was created for the Chinese market, where those are requirements, and they're not going to stop selling cars in China. The only way I see there being nothing like the GT is if they build models in China to serve the Chinese market exclusively.

The next generation replacement in about a year or so is supposedly more spacious in the rear, to allow BMW to successfully replace two hatchback models with this one.

That's the rumor, it remains to be seen if it's accurate. They might also pull the same stunt they did with the 640GT, which is still the 5GT chassis. They might do a facelift of the 3GT and rename it the 4GT. If you look back two years the same 'it's gone' rumors were swirling about the 5GT, and sure enough the 5GT was officially discontinued, but in reality it lives on.

At least it's certain there won't be a 4GT and a 4GC, the G24 model code is dead. The BMW CEO said the 3GT is being discontinued on their 2018 earnings press conference, there's no way it's coming back through the back door. And it makes sense - if the rumors are true and the next 4GC is a long-wheelbase car it would have so much overlap to the current (or a theoretical future) 3GT that it'd be ridiculous.
The trick they played with relabeling the 5GT to the 6GT makes sense insofar as the 8GC will be a very different car. |

IMO they renamed the 5GT as the 6GT purely to make it seem to be a new model, because the 5GT had such a bad rep. BMW doesn't mention the connection between the two anywhere, but when you look at the technical specs for the two the subterfuge is pretty obvious.

I think "fake news", misinterpretation, this only applies to US, or BMW changed their mind in 60 days. Note they claim no "second-gen", i.e., "G" chassis GT. BMW could still make F34 into 2019 by this logic, and they indicated as such on Jan 15, 2019 (see below).
BMW Corp. claims the F34 will get updates in "Spring 2019". https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...or-spring-2019 "Dark rear lights will also be included in the standard specification for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo from March 2019..." There is also this recent article indicating no next-gen GT: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...-turismo-dead/

Yes. Model Year 2019 End of Production was Feb 2019, meaning last builds were completed in that month. There still could be Model Year 2020 starting within the next few months. If MY20 starts, then it'll likely still be F34. TBA!

The announcement is only about the G24, yeah. End Of Production for the F34 is rumored to be in mid-2021, according to https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686
E.g. for europe, they just upgrading the 330d GT to Euro6d-Temp emission standards from beginning of march and added extended shadowline options for a black kidney grill and darkened rear lights. |

EOP for F34 and F36 are both listed as 06/21. Coincidence? I doubt it. What will start production 07/21 as a 2022 model is still anyone's guess. According to the Car and Driver article there will be no 3-series hatchback, but that doesn't rule out its return as a 4-series. Consolidation of the 3GT and 4GC makes sense.
