Can you add GAP insurance at any time or are there requirements?

I have used ALA in the past. Recommended by Honest John.

Highly recommend this company, I think most of us on here use them, great price and customer service, and any remaining months when you change cars can be used as credit off a new policy!

I looked at Click4Gap today for my new golf, the read a bad review and went for ALA instead, if you go through money supermarket there are discounts in both.

Gapisurance.co.uk would not touch the Golf R.

I was with ALA on my previous car, when it came time to change the new quote was much higher. I found a much better price online with another company, phoned ALA and they were happy to price match.

guys help!
i never bothered looking into gap insurance but now i'm thinking, i need it?
my car will depreciate a lot more than £60 a year!

is it a total no brainer? i don't get why it's not a completely standard mainstream thing to get it!
just want to make sure before i go ahead and pay £175 for 3 years.

It's not some sort of depreciation insurance (though it is, sort-of) - it's to ensure that, in the event of the car being written off, you are not left paying finance, etc. on an asset you no longer have the use of.

Read up, understand. Then decide whether it is for you or not.

I used ALA Vehicle Replacement Plus GAP. Very happy with the price, hopefully will never need to find out about the service and payout!

I've always used ALA for gap, they're usually pretty competitive.

MSE25 is a code for 25% off which helps

Just remember for most policies you have to take out the insurance within quite a short time frame from buying the car. However I know some policies allow a start date deferral as they recognise that some normal insurance policies pay out the 'new' price in the early stages of the policy.

The ALA policy I took out had to be taken within the 1st 12 months since registration. They also provided a policy specifically for lease cars and the facility to pay it over 10 months.
