I enquired about cho-tedds adaptor. It is now 280 dollars so has gone up a bit. Bimmer ECU Solution also does one which is around 300 dollars. One has a website, returns policy, not sure about warranty etc. the other one, I'm not sure what protection there is. As the price is not that different now, you make your choice.

Been following this thread and the only thing I see as a value add with the F8x cluster over the F3x 6WA and 6WB clusters is the RPM and Gear selected on the HUD if so equipped. Perhaps there's an opportunity for an adapter to be created that would offer this info on F3x's optioned with the HUD which would make more sense.

Pictures are tiny, hard to see much of anything. Maybe try using imgur instead of postimage in the future.

What does that coding enable moeTE87?

SuspecTARX, what car did you install the F80 cluster in mate? Your rev counter rev limit lights are showing way more segments than does.

In the M3 F80 cars, you have an M RPM gauge in the HUD. This coding allows for the RPMs to move. If you don't have this coding then the RPM's are stationary and do not move while you drive or rev the engine.

Ah ok, cool. Do you happen to know what coding enables the movement of the coloured rev indicators in the actual cluster? I have a retrofitted F80 cluster and the rev lights are static. But I have orange and three reds (IIRC), SuspecTARX's image shows more reds.

Those are supposed to be static.

What year was your cluster manufactured? Mine was 2018.

Mine are static. But my orange segment starts at 7k then red for 7.5k and 8k revs, so only three segments illuminated in total. Maybe its the engine type so the red line is governed by the DME. Not sure what year my cluster was, 2016 I think from memory.

Yeah, unfortunately! I deeply regret it. The wife and I wanted a second suv since our driveway is on a hill and was a pain in the ass to get the 340 up and down the driveway. Kinda made me resent driving it since it was such a hassle. Now, I wish I would of just stuck it out.

I got a 2018 BMW xdrive35i. Fully loaded with everything..highest spec that I have seen in a long time. But it has the n55 and is soooooo slow. Never been a fan of the n55 engine.

X5? Thats what my wife drives with the N55. Its not terrible, but no where near as quick as the B58 in the F3X platform. The extra 1,000lbs doesn't help either. However, i will say it was a hugeee improvement over my wife's previous car, a Nissan Rogue Sport. Nothing sporty about that car at all and slow as dogshit.

And trust me, as much as I love my F36, the downside is that when its time to load up the family, we always take my wife's X5 for the extra space... almost makes me want to swap over to an X3 M40i so that we can occassionally take a more fun car on family trips. At this point, my car is really only used by me to go to and from work. At that point, I may as well have gotten an M240 (or just generally something smaller than the F36). I chose the F36 over the F30 to have the hatchback with some additional storage capacity, but it is hardly ever used in that way. Either way, I love my F36 and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

Hopefully you'll be back to a fun car over an SUV at some point!

That's how I felt too. We always took the wife's 2022 Lincoln Aviator everywhere and my 340i stayed in the garage. Prolly why I only put 7k miles on it in 3 years.

I am not keeping this x5 for long. Hopefully by this time next year I am in a 2020-2022 X3MC or X5. I need something faster. I know I can BM3 the current x5 but I don't want to put any more money into it if I can avoid it and would rather save that money for the new suv. Hell...I am even looking at a 2020-2022 Macan GTS.

@MoeTE87

Do you know if it’s possible to —

A. Move the shift light indicator in the tac and HUD to have orange start at 5.5k and the two reds at 6&6.5k

B. An easier way to access the M HUD display. Currently I have to manually go into display settings to select the option.

@MoeTE87 congratulations on the post !!!

Could you share your CAFD file of the complete cluster to compare the coding parameters?

Could you help me find the adapter, I've been looking and can't find it, it's out of stock on the website.

https://www.bimecu.com/product-page/f80-cluster-retrofit-adapter

Any other link or option to purchase the adapter?

Tks

Does your car have speed limit info? If not, you can get the same one I got. If you do, you can still get the one i got, but you'll want to turn off speed limit info in the HUD/cluster cause its programmed in KPH instead of MPH so it flickers back and forth. I just turned my speed limit info off. Don't miss it.

If you're interested, I could find the link I used (pretty sure ebay).

Hello, I see on your 6WA that the LCD display area is white at night. Can you tell me how you achieved this?

The image you posted is the F8X cluster, not the F3X cluster. It has different backlighting, no KPH on the speedo, lights on the tach, and the ///M logo on the speedo, and various other differences.

Thank you, I understand. I thought there were other parameters besides DIM_NACHT_EIN.

Hey guys, just installed with George @ Coding Dynamics - he was great to work with. Thanks for the recco. I have a few questions for you guys:

1. How do I get the lights on the tach to work properly?
2. How do I get RMP and tach lights on headsup working?
3. Fog lights work, just not in cluster. Rears show on cluster. What do I need to do to get it to work?
4. How do I show, eco, comfort, sports and sports + on kombi?

Thanks
Milan
