Slight Oil leak (photo attached)

‘14 435i (n55) 62,500 miles

I went in for an alignment and multi point inspection.

My dealership service advisor said I’m leaking oil from the oil pan, shown in the photo.

Somehow some way, my Valve cover gasket is not leaking lmao. Crazy at this mileage.

But how concerned should I be with that slight oil leak? My car hasn’t ever givven me a “low oil” warning. I just keep oil in the trunk in case.

But yea will this turn into something bigger? I plan on having this car for awhile and love it!

Thanks

Your best bet would be to clean it and try to find the actual source. That oil could be coming from the OFHG, Oil Cooler, VC or all 3. Gravity can sometimes make it seem like its coming from the oil pan gasket.

Just as a data point, my 435i had been leaking in all 3 places at 58K....

+1, clean it and monitor, see where its coming from and how long it takes to come back. I had my oil pan gasket replaced under warranty at about 45k miles

And was it a major leak? Like did it make your oil level low? And did you repair all of it?

I have similar leak on the oil pan. The dealer gave me a $3k quote for the oil pan gasket. LOL!
It is my weekend car and at 82k miles. I will wait to summer to check it up.

My dealer quoted 2300 and my indy will do it for 1800. Watching and waiting as the seep is only visible at a few of the passenger side rear bolts. 2015 with 24700 miles.

Step 1: Is there a pool of oil underneath where you park your car overnight? If so you've got a major problem. If not you don't. The way to find the source is to thoroughly clean the entire engine then use UV dye, lamp and tinted lenses to find it. https://www.google.com/search?q=uv+d...DuAxofIXs,st:0

No, I had caught it early enough to where the biggest issue was burning oil being introduced into the cabin through the vents. However, you can tell that the VC had been leaking for a while and the OFHG and OC was seeping after close inspection.
